A wonderful little fell tucked away in the northern fells. It may only be small but it affords wonderful views of Blencathra, Skiddaw, over towards the Pennines and north towards Scotland. Once the steep slopes have been ascended it is a pleasant stroll to the summit and beyond, if the fancy takes you. Another Wainwright to bag

A glorious northern cairned Wainwright normally that is normally done from the Mosedale end which has a very steep lung busting start. Once the start is out of the way however you are rewarded by great views and an easier amble over a high undulating route to take in other Wainwrights such as High Pike, Knott and Great Calva.

This has a very steep path that leads up from the road to the summit. Once there, you are rewarded with amazing views! It's easy to find the summit, and there's lots of Wainwright's to tick off once you are up there. I would always do this one first and decend another route.

Steep walk to start with but well worth it. The British fort remains might be interesting if you like looking at a pile of rocks, well, that is archaeology. The best part of the day was hearing the soaring birdsong on the tops and seeing the wild ponies having their lunch as I came down...
