This country park is about 20 - 30 mins drive from Leicester City Centre. It's a really lovely green space with lovely panoramic views from the top. Beacon hill boasts some of the oldest examples of volcanic rock in England and Wales.

You have a choice of 2 car parks - lower and upper. The lower car park gives you access to meadows, the cafe, the labyrinth a lovely walk through a specially planted wood showcasing all of the native trees to the UK.All the trees have an information board that give you info of the tree. There is also a play area and an area that encourages natural play - can build dens using branches and logs.

The upper car park gives you access to panoramic views of the Leicestershire countryside. You can see quarries, national forest and generally beautiful scenery and views. You'll see volcanic rock here, farmland, livestock.

You can walk from the upper to the lower parts of the country park along the paths. There are also a number of wooden sculptures dotted around the park.

Parking is pay on exit: Up to 1 hour – £2 1 – 3 hours –...

Second highest hill in Leicestershire at 814 feet above sea level. An easy walk to the top for most people, especially if you park at the upper car park near the summit. Some of the best views you'll see for the little effort required. On clear days you'll see Loughborough just below, Nottingham, Lincoln and the Cathedral, Boston Stump, Leicester, the Peak District, Bradgate Park, East Midlands Airport and much more. Its fun watching the distance planes coming towards the airport and the small vehicles on the M1. I've been to the top on bonfire night and it looked like a mini nuclear war going off all over the place in the distance. The views are good anytime, but exceptionally good in Autumn and also Winter when snowing, as it looks like a white fairy land for miles. There are some wooden seats at the top where you can relax and you'll see a lot of bird life here. A good hill and day out for familys and kids if supervised well. You have to pay for parking, but there are toilets in the upper carpark and sometimes an ice cream van...

Cracking place to come and walk!! Is quite hilly in places, but there's so much open space and places to walk. Ideal for kids, couples or dog walkers. When you get to the top (where the volcanic rocks are), it is a little exposed, so can be cold, especially when breezy. Not sure if they have a cafe (as couldn't find it if they have). If not, they should really consider it though. Loved the fact that the picnic benches all had their own BBQ area too, which would be...

I visited Beacon Hill with my boyfriend today for a walk, and it was absolutely stunning. The heavy fog created a magical atmosphere, and I couldn’t resist taking loads of foggy photos—it was all so picturesque! I hadn’t been to Beacon Hill in nearly a decade, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. The area is perfect for a peaceful stroll, with plenty of dog walkers and beautiful scenery. It's a truly lovely spot to reconnect with nature!
