When the weather is good, doesn't matter if it's cold but dry then there are hundreds of stalls with people selling their goods. Antiques, knick knacks, lots of animals and pet products with treat stalls for every dog or cat, dog beds, everything you could want or need. So many stalls, lots selling new things, others very good second hand things. Tools of every kind. Gardening equipment even plants. Something for everyone. There is also a large café/ fry up breakfast place. Bought 2. Cappuccinos and sat outside in the sun with the dogs. Best to get there on Sundays about 8:30-9:00am. This, I think is the best time to get any bargains but there is always a bargain for something. Outside the main building are a few big stalls and a meat selling lorry. You can buy large amounts of quality meat at ridiculous prices. I bought some Cheddar cheese at a nearby stall. 3 250g strong Cheddar packs for £5. Can't get better than that. Ended up being totally worn out and spent about £12. Came out with some nice dog treats,a birthday present for my nephew ( a new boxed and plastic covered good quality selfy stick for 2 quid as I know he doesn't have one and has just got another puppy so it will be used). Not being a skinflint I just saw it and bought it. The stall had about 20 and he said he had sold out the week before. Can't remember what else. I think I bought some Gillette Fusion razor blades, 4 for 4 pounds. Not bad and the genuine article as I tested it this morning. I used to sell myself at Cheddar and if you have alot of things to clear out, then fill your car and go to Cheddar on a Sunday. Its just outside the town as you follow the road through the village coming from Bristol way or Congresbury. I think it cost £10 for a plot and you can rent tables for a fiver each. Great place to sell or just to do something on a boring Sunday. It shuts after about 2 but people leave around 12-12:30 then go home or make a day out of it by booking a table at some pub close to home for a well earned Sunday roast. Well that's my review and I will be back in a month or so....
Read moreMuch bigger than we expected. We like old trinkets and vintage items and there were plenty of these in the outside car boot area. Inside had mostly newish things so we skipped through that quick smart, just grabbing a snack to keep us going until lunchtime.
Many stalls take cash (some will take cards if their phone isn't flat!) so come prepared, or if caught out like us you can get cash out upstairs in the building over the toilets.
We got there quite late, just before closing, as we had to drive a fair way and drop our kids somewhere else at a certain time. A lot of stall holders were packing up, but we still found a few bargains and some stall holders were giving things they didn't want to carry home away free by then.
TBH I think it might have been a bit overwhelming if we'd been there earlier. It would take hours to look through all the stalls.
Parking is plentiful and costs £2 although we were only charged £1 as we got there so late.
Allow time to drive through town if coming from the north or east through the gorge, and in holiday season. It's very packed and slow going.
Ok for people with disabilities/wheelchairs if the grassed area isn't too soft from rain.
Toilets not too bad for a largeish event, some still had paper in them but not all and they weren't too messy. I forgot to check if there was a disabled...
Read moregreat car boot venue. loads of parking. parking cost 1 pound for all day as a visitor. exrta charges for having a pitch. i think its 10 pounds. theres a couple of indoor areas ideal on a wet or cold day. also ideal on a hot day to escape from the sun. such a massive area out side. full of everyone selling everything. takes a good hour to walk around the entire thing. theres a lovely lake at the far end full of fish and ducks. lots of grass to sit on and chill out. few trees again for shelter from the sun. theres a bunch of regular traders for vape juice. phone stuff. fishing stuff. baked goods and a meat lorry right by the entrance. toilets on site too along with a couple of cafes. tea and coffee also a good selection of food. sweets for the kids. its also got a seperate parking area for disabled parking. but even though alot of the site is concrete theres quite a large grass area of stalls so unsure about wheel chair use along these parts. on a dry day its bumpy on a wet day its slippy. well worth a look as you never know what you might find. leaving the site can take a while on a warm sunny day. because of the amount of cars. please like this review if you find it...
