We booked a 3 hour surprise boat trip ‘Black Water Dawn’ for my Dad’s 67th Birthday at Heybridge, Maldon with Essex Waterways. We had such an amazing day, our Skippers Chaz and Neil were so lovely, chatty and really got involved with everyone. A massive thank you to them for taking us out voluntarily due to being short staffed that day! I want to say thank you to the lady I spoke to on the phone (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name) for making sure we had Skippers on the day.
The boat was really nice and clean. A table was set up to place our food on. The toilet was immaculate and finally the weather really topped it off as it was sunny and warm! Overall our experience was delightful, we all really enjoyed ourselves. We will be coming back and we would like Chaz and Neil to be our Skippers again, we recommend them 100% 😆
Thank you to...

But and I say But, I was not impressed paying 5 pound to park on a field which did not have proper parking bays. We took my 95 year mum to visit the tea rooms. She is wheelchair bound. I asked the car attendant if there was wheelchair access, I was told the only was to access the tea room was a hilly path. Now this might be ok for Bear Gyrlls but not for a 64 year pushing that wheelchair..this is not a wheelchair friendly place at all, The Tea rooms have parking out the back which is more suitable for wheelchair access but this was never mentioned at the time of taking our money. Shame in you for not making this a safe environment for people with disabilities or elderly with...

The experience was really good fun helped by our Skipper (Chas) and his First Mate (Chris). You are able, if you want, to help out with opening and closing the locks that you pass through on your way from Papermill Lock towards Maldon. We also had a cream tea laid on as part of the experience. Thank you all so much for a wonderful day. Would recommend this activity for families with all ages in your group except...
