What a magical place! Famous Island in Arthur Ransome's "Swallows and Amazons", Peel Island is known as “Wild Cat Island” in the book. We canoed here from a small woodland parking area on the East road alongside the lake. Managed to find the Secret Harbour without too much trouble ;-) Picnic'd near our canoe then explored the place.
The craggy island has different levels and viewpoints. Much more to it than we expected. Plenty of photo opportunities for the surrounding hills & lake from here.
