Dennis Fish Bar — Local services in Doncaster

The food from this chip shop is very good, although recently they did do something that I didn't like. All of the sauce pots (mushy peas, baked beans, gravy, curry sauce), are on view behind the counter. Recently I ordered a large peas with my meal, but the staff member picked up a large pot and for some reason went out the back to fill it; now there might be a perfectly good explanation for why she did this, but after watching a television programme about food outlets a few years ago, and seeing some disgusting videos of what is sometimes done to peoples food, I always like to see my food served in front of me. As soon as I got home I threw the peas away, and opened a tin of baked beans instead. Other than this, I am happy with the food and the service that I have received...

This has got to be the best fish and chip shop that I have been to. I got pie, chips and gravy for £6.50. The chips were freshly cooked, and I might add that they weren't greasy and the pie and gravy were very flavoursome. It was a generous portion, too. The server was very polite, and I am only down here for another 2 weeks and will definitely be going back to sample more off the menu. Detoured off the A1 on a road trip and fancied fish n chips. Good reviews brought me to Dennis Fish Bar. Service was fast n friendly. Fish and chips were excellent. Fresh tasty chips and good piece of cod with crispy batter. Only let down was the vile ketchup and I think the oil needs a change as it tainted the taste a bit.
