Did this experience with my girlfriend last weekend. Was looking forward to it, but they turned into a farce and a bit disappointment. Was 5°C outside and very wet, can't blame them for that. However we was in 6 groups when we got to the Vulcan. The first hour was waiting for 6 of the staff to pump up tyres as they wanted to move it back and forwards. This last 6 groups maybe a coach full to go up the ladder into the cockpit , we did eventually go up for maybe 2 mins. Some had to get back in the coach to keep warm till there turn. After that we all got under the vulcan to open its bomb bay doors. Again we only got to see it for maybe 5 minutes. We had no information or guide talk with us about the different parts or history about the Vulcan., only exception was 1 in the cockpit. Also no apologies from the staff about all the delays for 60mins before they even started the tour at the Vulcan it's self. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO GO ON THIS TOUR,...
Read moreWe went to the ground run this weekend July 24th. An incredible experience to see this iconic plane in reality. We were very lucky also to see her power back along the runway under her own steam after the huge boost from her engines in the standing display. The staff are all volunteers and obviously love her - the Spirit of Great Britain- XH558. They can answer any questions you have and show such pride in her, giving a lot of their time to either look after the visitors or the ground crew keeping her air worthy. A very enjoyable afternoon Thankyou. Good luck with the space...
Read moreTook 3 gent care home residents on a trip, one of whom had crewed this Vulcan in the 1960's. The volunteers were great with the gents and us staff members. The ex flyer managed to climb into the cockpit with help and was shown his name recorded on the wing. The plane is the star of the show but the volunteers were excellent hosts and very knowledgeable. The sun shone and the residents loved it, as did...
