We were staying at Ladram holiday park and the High Peak is clearly visible. I said to my wife "I think I will walk up there this week!". "Off you go then. I'll sit outside the caravan on the veranda and see I can spot you". So a nice dry, sunny afternoon and off I went. The path leads from Ladram Bay Holiday Park towards Sidmouth. It's quite an uneven and rutted path. There are lots of tree roots to negotiate as well. Fortunately we have had no rain for weeks, so the going was very dry, otherwise it would be quite muddy and slippery. It is pretty steep, and the final approach to the top is via a set of steps. Once you get there it's well worth it for the views. I tried to spot Mrs Jenks at our caravan, but my eyes aren't that good. Apparently she was able to see me. She phoned and I jumped up and down bit (luckily no one else was there). Going back down was a lot easier, but you really have to watch your footing.

Beautiful view across Ladram Bay and Sidmouth from the peak as well as lovely views back across the south Devon countryside. The climb up the coast path from Ladram Bay is steady but not too steep and winds along the clifftop until you reach the wooded hillside. The route becomes a bit more difficult climbing up through the woods. There are occasionally steps and a lot of tree roots which some may find difficult. The walk eventually levels out through the woods and if you follow the path you'll come to an intersection. This is where it becomes quite a bit more hazardous. It's a loose gravelly flint bed climb up to the peak and the Trig point. It's a fantastic view and worth the climb if you can manage it.

About 15 minutes brisk walk from Ladram Bay. A steep climb which is uneven with a lot of loose stone near the top (see photo); not one for anyone unsure on their feet. Effort is rewarded with panoramic views, also lucky enough to see a large snake or slow worm on the walk back down.

Some of the best views along the coast. It's just a lookout spot with what is probably quite difficult access for some with quite a long approach and a step little trail at the end with lots of loose rocks. It's a shame that the trees they've planted around it are all pine rather than something more like natural...
