Marros Riding Centre — Local services in Eglwyscummin

Very disappointed with our hours trek. We booked this as part of our week away and was the aspect that we were most excited to do as a family but it’s sad to say that the ‘trek’ was sorely disappointing. The ponies and horses are beautifully kept and staff very friendly however we had 45 mins on horseback some of which was spent in the yard. We competed a form prior to advise on ability of us all and the kids did not need to be lead and happily can trot on a pony, yet we were lead around by foot in a very short loop that was far from exciting. I’d have expected people leading a trek to be on horseback so we were at least going at a horses pace, not a person. The pathway was not one that was good for trotting with lots of loose, large stones they did lead rein the front pony into a trot that lasted less than a minute (likely due to it being a person running not someone on horseback) this cost us £108 and us feeling ripped off and annoyed and an 8 and 10 year old and I quote ‘it felt like it lasted about 10mins and was so boring’. I booked a 1 hour horse riding session with this stable for the full family ( 2 adults and 2 kids). My eldest child is blind and i had mentioned this during the booking. All my questions were answered and my concerns were confidently addressed.

On the day everything was explained to him and he was kept informed during the full session, additional information about the horses was shared with him constantly. My son is very inquisitive and all of his questions were answered politely which shows that the staff enjoy what they do. Really could not ask for more from the whole team of staff.

The session in general was enjoyable for all of the family even myself and my mrs joined in. All off the staff were polite and passionate about their jobs and this made the experience more enjoyable for us.

Although it was raining on the day we still had a great time, the kids really enjoyed the experience.

We had 2 lovely rides at Marros while we were staying in the area. The centre is very well run and all the horses are clearly loved and well cared for by all the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with safety for all a priority. The first day we went on a lovely woodland ride with Amber which was excellent with wonderful scenery and views and the second day we went on a beach ride with Kiera. This was definitely a highlight, the beach was stunning and we had plenty of canters and gallops and opportunities to paddle in the water.I would definitely recommend the centre whether you are a novice or more experienced, the staff will cater for your ability and how much or little you want to do.
