Decided to walk the lake first then go up through the valley - haystack side, got to top up to slate mill then took a left up past the mill then up to the top. An amazing set of views of the whole valley and lake. The route down the front toward the lake was a decent climb on the first bit lots of bum sliding and climbing down.

Fleetwith pike is a tremendous fell to climb especially the scrambling up Fleetwith edge passing the white memorial cross of Fanny Mercer who died in a tragic accident in 1887.. and the views down the Buttermere/ Crummock water valley are superb but can be hitty missy if cloudbase is slightly lower

What a hike - a little scrambling towards the top! Had no idea how steep it was or how sweaty I'd get lol 1st hike with my boyfriend, he's a seasoned hiker thus was my first time- did Grey Knot and Haystacks at same time- WONDERFUL VIEWS
