Threlkeld Quarry Railway — Local services in England

What an amazing experience for the kids and big kids alike! Very relaxed experience with no rushing around! The little museum is packed with information about the landscapes of the lakes and the quarries and mines and what’s mined where. Then exploring the overall site and machines is great. Open spaces with machines all around you and the little railway in the background that you get to go on in the £7.50 admission fee where the history of the Threlkeld Quarry is explained and a chat by the train driver of how the train works. We highly recommend this for adults, kids...

Arrived too late for the train ride and mine tour...but this place is amazing if you are into machinery and diggers. Only shame they don't give you some information or map about the site.....but what should I expect for £3. Museum is interesting if you have a grasp of the area, detailing all the different mines and quarries. Well...

Underestimated place! Lovely views! Kids loved it! Staff very friendly and informative! Short Train ride with your ticket which again the kids loved, great informative museum area. Also did the panning and we ended up staying 2 hours more 😬☺️ great day...
