Both Wrynose and hardknott are a piece of cake. Don't believe the hype. So long as you stay aware of the road conditions and what's going on around you it's easy and fun. Though I have to admit, I would hate to do it towing a trailer or at the night of tourist season as the roads are incredibly narrow and the hairpins are interesting to try and navigate your way around should you have traffic meeting you there. The views at both are spectacular and do have the strange ability to make you feel quite insignificant.

Edit: NOT for the novice rider/driver and the gradients you will encounter are steeper in places than your imagination will allow you to perceive making hull starts hard on your clutch so try...

Potentially superb views to be had, although it was misty on the day we drove it. What a surprise! (Not) . Not for the faint hearted. The road is mostly single track with passing places and VERY steep. On several occasions, the road disappears under your bonnet lid leaving you trusting that it's still there as you top a hill. Very unforgiving boulders line the route, as do some hairy unfenced drops. Done it a few times now. This is probably going to be the last - I would certainly check that there's a good chance of seeing the scenery! The neighbouring Hardknott Pass, which many people include in their drive, seems to have a worse rippled surface, just to increase...

Should be closed down white knuckle ride which leads you on to hardknot pass another white knuckle ride it is a single lane road with no side barriers and just sheer drops at the side of you in parts. we were lucky another car never came the opposite way as dont know what anyone is supposed to do as it is just enough room for 1 car with no edges oh and hope your car can take the pressure it puts on it read in other reviews it has taken some people's car out brakes suspension etc its so bad the locals don't use it I'd avoid unless your a thrill seeker and pray another car doesn't come the opposite way as one of you will be reversing all the way back to...

It's an awesome drive. Although glad it was my husband behind the wheel.

Wrynose Pass is one of the most stunning drives we’ve done in the Lake District. We came in our campervan and parked for a little break—it’s a perfect spot to stop and take in the views. The road is very narrow and winding, so take it slow, but the views are absolutely worth it. The mountains, the sky, the quiet—everything feels peaceful and wild at the same time. If you’re in the Lake District and looking for a scenic drive or a quiet place to enjoy nature from your campervan, Wrynose Pass is a must. Just be careful driving and enjoy every second—it’s unforgettable!
