Where to start? The good points include: a wide selection of produce and, for the most part, decent quality. Good bakery section and a nice cheese counter. Lovely place as well. Not that expensive for a farm shop but don’t think the meat is worth the extra price. Bad points: Well! I’ve been here a few times now and each time something happened. The first time I went I was charged twice by the young lady behind the counter and when I went back in to tell her that I had after checking my account I was made to feel bad and the woman who sorted the refund was nothing but rude. The second time I went I was overcharged again! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not expecting perfection from young staff. But twice in a row doesn’t make for a great impression. The third time I went (which will be my last) was the worst. I walked up to the meat counter and I said “hey, how are you?” I was greeted with the a moody and rude man behind the counter responding “what do you want?” Now, this rudeness didn’t deter me in my effort to get some good natured conversation from him. I said “I’m good thanks for asking, how’s it going?” He looked at me, dead pan, right in the eye and responded again “what do you want?” So, I told him “my day is great thanks mate... I’ll have...” and I proceeded to ask him for what I wanted with please and thank yous. The customer service here is shocking! And the sausages I got on my third visit were abysmal. As I said, some decent produce for an alright price but in all honesty I wouldn’t bother going. Sainsbury’s is just round the corner... save your pennies and stop 30...
Read moreUpdated this after a few years, unfortunately id have to say despite the new buildings etc there seems to be an atmosphere in the place. Particularly the butchers counter. The 3 older male butchers have a really sh*tty attitude, give off the impression that they shouldn't have to assist on the counter, verbally abrupt or impolite and very reluctant to assist when help is needed on the counter. - I've experienced this, when i've ended up waiting a good 10 mins to be served by the young lad who is on the counter on his own with 3 butchers behind him and able to see the queue but do nothing. Then as soon as ive got to serving, one of the butchers jumped into help the person behind who he knew. Really lost respect for that and i specifically used to go to spring lane to support them as local business, but i have started going to an alternative local butcher which is closer.
Noticed since the expansion more products are being stocked, however i don't understand why these are not local products and seem to be hoarded in from else where.
It comes across that the older staff seem to have an issue being there, younger members do their job effectively and politely. Ive noticed this decline in standard over time and im surprised its been allowed to get to this point (and its obvious from the reviews on here too). A few mystery customers should be done to identify the staff...
Read moreI have been a customer on and off for many years, my Parents and Grandparents used to get the eggs from the farm house many years ago, we all live fairly local and I try very hard to use independent businesses, however sadly I have decided I no longer want to shop at the farm shop, the staff are generally miserable and the customer service is terrible, don’t get me wrong get me wrong there are a few lovely members of staff who really make the effort, but the rest of them and especially the butchers are just ignorant and rude, if I wanted crap customer service and staff with attitudes I’d go to a supermarket. You pay a premium for the goods at the farm shop and my expectation is that the staff should be friendlier and polite. It’s such a shame and I hope the new cafe staff are going to be...
