A nice forest. The anticlockwise walking route is a long climb and you do need to be reasonably fit to walk it because of the steepish gradient in parts. Alternatively you could just walk along the gentle path beside the river. The paths can be muddy. Parking for around 10 cars at the start of the trail or plenty of free parking is available in the village car parks. We didn't see any Red Squirrels although we did see a Dipper bird in the river.
