OUTSTANDING πππππ I booked a distillery tour for a belated birthday present for my other half. We were staying nearby for a few days so it was a 20min trip. On arrival we were greeted and invited in. Staff were welcoming and helped us choose which drink to have as a welcome drink. My choice was rhubarb and ginger vodka with ginger ale and his choice was a classic gin and tonic. The area for tasting was cosy and full of fairy lights. So pretty. Once other guests arrived we had a tour and a comprehensive but easy explanation of the potato to bottle process. Plus bottles to pass around of the vodka at various stages of process to sniff. THEN β¦.. the tasting. Be warned you will over indulge and want to buy everything! The alcohol is sooooo good. I was designed driver and took home a sample 5cl bottle of vanilla vodka. This beats any vanilla vodka Iβve tried before. We tried Cornish sea berry vodka, rhubarb and ginger gin, vanilla vodka, blackberry liqueur, dry gin, distillers cut, barrel aged spice vodka, I only had a finger dip taste . We tasted gins and liqueurs, all absolutely amazing. Next time we will definitely get a taxi and book the gin master class too. A MUST VISIT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Thankyou ladies for the...
Β Β Β Read moreAfter having to delay/postpone our visit for 18 months due to the dreaded lockdowns, (I must say the team were very understanding & accommodating to rescheduling) we finally made it down to Cornwall to enjoy the Gin School Experience. All I can say it was worth the wait.
We were greeted by our very knowledgeable host Kevin, and the afternoons fun began. Kicked off with a G & T of your choice, Kevin gave a background of the small distillery, and explained how all Gin (& Vodka) they made used only their own potatoes grown on the farm. They also use Mineral Water from their own spring.
He then went over the numerous botanicals we had at our disposal to make our own bottle of Gin, explaining how they could be combined in order to make a gin to match your tastes.
Once our botanicals had been selected we then had the chance to make our gin in individual stills. This process takes around 15 minutes during this time we were invited to have a cocktail (and Crisps). Once the gin is distilled we bottled & labelled it, with a little left over to sample.
The hard bit is now we have to wait a week for it to be at its best before a proper taste.
Would thoroughly recommend, but it may be worth ensuring you have a designated...
Β Β Β Read moreThe best distillery tour I have done so far!!!! Jade (think that was her name) was an awesome host being friendly, chatty and knowledgeable. The tour itself isn't that long as the stills are all set up in a single converted barn but you discover the history and methods used to make some of the finest spirits in the world.
Before you start you get a free G&T or vodka which the host will suggest served in a way that enhances the flavour of the spirit. After the tour you get a sample taste the entire vodka and gin collection with explanations over the ingredients and flavours. You then obviously get a discount Β£5 off any purchase made that day. Its a clear selling tactic but it is also incredible fun and the spirits are indeed very high quality.
Overall a super fun way to spend an afternoon for a good price. You can pay extra to go on and have a gin/vodka school session where you make your own version. I will definitely be coming back to do that. You can also stay after you tour and enjoy the drinks from the bar as well.
Non alcohol drinkers are also thought of with a free soft drink on arrival and a free miniature...
