Durdle Door Car Park Review

The Durdle Door car park serves as a convenient starting point for exploring the iconic Durdle Door and the surrounding Jurassic Coast in Dorset. Its location near the entrance to the coastal path makes it ideal for visitors looking to access the natural limestone arch and nearby attractions like Lulworth Cove.

The car park is spacious, accommodating cars, campervans, and minibusses. However, it can get very crowded during peak tourist seasons and sunny weekends, so arriving early is highly recommended. Parking operates on a pay-and-display system, with fees that some visitors might find slightly high, especially for longer stays.

Facilities include well-maintained toilets, an information kiosk, and a small shop selling snacks and drinks, adding to the convenience of the site. The car park is generally clean and well-organized, with clear signage. However, the path leading to Durdle Door is steep and uneven, so visitors should wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for a bit of a hike.

Despite occasional challenges with parking space during busy times, the Durdle Door car park provides a practical and well-placed facility for exploring one of England’s most breathtaking natural landmarks. The stunning views make any minor...

Although this is a Pay and display car park, it is located reasonably close to the beach although still another 5 minute walk down a fairly steep stepped decline which is certainly worth the effort. It is much closer to the beach than the local bus stop. There is an information booth giving both safety information and local points of interest next to the car park, but do your homework first. The walk from the car park to the beach is not suitable for the suitable for the infirm or people in wheelchairs. The water It's very clear so perhaps take your snorkel and flippers and flippers and mask but the beach is steeply sloping beach is steeply sloping so properly unsuitable for young children swimming. As with most of these beaches, they do not have litter bins, so whatever you take to the beach, please take it back to the car at the end of your visit as none of us would probably like to visit a beautiful beach or nature reserve full of litter. Please respect others people's enjoyment, take litter home and have a great time. Lastly there are toilets both male and female in these are quite some distance from the beach so Make sure you don't need them on your way down. Enjoy Dorset, it's a...

Lovely view and incredible landmark, slightly let down by how it's run. Starting with arrival, you're told that it's pay on exit, which gave me some warning straight away that parking wouldn't be cheap, as I expected. But when it came to leaving and paying, I was in for a bit of a shock, as anything over 1 hour and up to 4 hours comes to a crazy £12.40! I was only here for an hour and a half, and in hindsight I wish that I rushed more to get under 1 hour, as it then would only have cost £3.10. The toilets were a bit of a mess, with water/mud (or other) trodden all over the floor. There also seemed to be a lack of bins. I understand reserving the natural beauty, but after leaving the car park I didn't spot a single bin, which I'm sure would have been possible to tuck next to one of the benches (long rocks). My final thing is that there were no real handrails to help you down to the beach. I visited shortly after rain, and the wood was slippery and there were puddles on almost every step, so an extra support would have been nice. Overall, the way that it is run does slightly take away from an otherwise...
