I love Scotland. I love the Highlands. I love the green green Nature here. It's not my home. But every time I visit it feels like I'm coming home. It's where my heart is.
Came here to the magical Glen Coe for some nice views, for some peace and quiet and some easy walks (suitable for our Bulldog).
And found it all. One day we parked the car at the busy Three Sisters Carpark. Lots of visitors always here. But for a starting point for our walk it was perfect. And worth waiting a few minutes for a spot. Free parking, no time limit.
From here we walked down, walked along the riverbank westbound, towards Loch Achtriochtan. It's a fairly easy and flat walk. Gets a bit more narrow close to the Loch. Endless spectacular views of the Glen and the Three Sisters. It's just so so green and the landscape - besides the busy A82 - so untouched.
While the carpark is really busy, the walking trail isn't. Most people park, get some pics and move on. It's a pity. Have a walk or hike while you're here.
The other day we went to the woodlands. Parked at the An Torr carpark and walked to Signal Rock and An Torr. Not really any views, but a nice change and very few visitors again. After we walked along the river to the Loch Achtriochtan - this time coming from the other side. Wonderful views here as well.
There are countless walks, paths and hikes. We really enjoyed our choices and surely will be back again some...
Read moreThis is an awe-inspiring walk, whatever the weather (been in sunshine, rain, and snow), and well worth a visit for anyone with a passing interest in walking.
The car park is fairly small and often full of tour buses. Get there early and you'll get a space. The path to the hidden valley is clear, and you'll soon leave the road and tourists behind! The ascent requires navigation of several rocks to begin with (there is a handy rope at the point), before winding through trees, then arriving at the valley path. The path is narrow, and the drops are steep! Take great care with children and dogs! The trail leads up alongside a stream, which can be a torrent after rain or in winter, but is fairly gentle in dry weather. If you plan on crossing the river, try a visit in warmer weather! Prepare yourself for views of seclusion and isolation! Watch out for the biting insects, they're pretty...
Read moreComing over the wide expanse of Rannoch Moor and then arriving here, is quite a shock to be honest. Stunning glacial mountain and gorge scenery, with waterfalls, small lochs and rushing rivers. There's not many places that can match this awesome and atmospheric gorge. You know something good is coming in the distance, with the changing scenery while coming over the Moor. The scenery just gets better and better the closer you get, then it hits you and you're there. Awesome majestic scenery and although I've seen it quite a few times, I'll never tire of the place. It seems to look more stunning everytime I see it. This is a must see visit and not many places...
