An attractive mixed woodland sitting on the hills above the Wye valley village of Mordiford. You could walk for miles as there are tracks of varying sizes criss crossing the woods. However, the wood was new to us, so on advice we parked in the car park about three quarters of a mile up the road on the hill leading out of Mordiford. From there there are two well sign posted circular "butterfly walks", a 1.5 mile and a 2 mile. We did both and they took you through various types of woodland, most of the time on wide well made tracks, with occasional views down into the valleys below. We went on a Sunday morning, in decent weather and the woods were well used with people out walking, with and without dogs.

Car park is being resurfaced which is excellent but 4 benches have been removed over the past few years leaving only 1 if I am correct which is not good enough....the paths which are wide enough for traffic are not bad , but a lot of the smaller ones are very slippery when wet and these are used every day and are still main paths ,wish more could be done to improve these and return the missing benches.

Off the beaten track but a great place for a walk either for families or for dog walking. Also a good place for amateurs mountain bikers with not to difficult routes. Quite hilly in places and if you follow the yellow arrows you end up going quite a boggy hilly path, whereas you can carry on following the main path and then walking back up the main road to the car park (which is free).
