We have just arrived home having spent the most amazing 3 nights of precious, peaceful family time in the amazing safari tent basecamp. ||We were travelling as a family (mum, dad and our 3 children aged 9, 5 and 3).||Our whole weekend was like an exciting adventure for our children. The whole of the Lazy Duck has the most calming relaxing atmosphere. The Duck Keepers were all super friendly and helpful and my children loved feeding the ducks. ||The safari tent was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and it was clearly stated on the website when booking what we needed to bring. We also had access to a small utility area with fridge, toaster, sink and a toilet and shower which was super handy. ||The outdoor shower was recommended and I was so glad I had one. It was such an amazing experience. ||The whole family enjoyed the wood burning hot tub on Sat evening which was super relaxing situated in the field beside the woods and was so idyllic. ||As a family we try and spend time outdoors as much as possible but it was brilliant for us and the children to have a no electronic weekend of family fun with traditional card games and outdoor play for entertainment. ||We spend the whole car journey home talking about how we want to come back to basecamp again. ||Thanks again to the Duck Keepers for a wonderful experience. You were all so helpful and super friendly. ||Love and best wishes|Lauri, Martin, Matilda, Albie...

The most beautiful, quiet, idyllic, and undisturbed place we have ever stayed. Literally feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. We stayed in the woodmans hut, which was through a gate, and over a little bridge and was in it's own grounds pretty much. The views are simply stunning, and all the facilities were brilliant. The eco toilet was cleaner than that of some hotels we have stayed in! Such a clever, and clean design. We had a wood fired hot tub booked one of the nights, and it was beautiful. The hosts were so lovely, and very helpful, providing us with fully charged adapters for our phones/torches etc, as there is no electricity in the hut, and really wasn't needed. We had so many items provided for us which we really weren't expecting, so we will pack much lighter on our next visit (hopefully in the not too distant future!) There has been so much thought gone into this beautiful place, and the attention to detail is superb. I really didn't want to come home, and it made me reevaluate so many of the ways we do things in our homes on a daily basis, and what we really could live without. The simple life? yes. Slumming it? Absolutely not! I felt like a princess in my own little world up there. Everybody should stay here at some point in their lives if you ever need to escape it all.|My new favourite place.|Thank you so much for this wonderful...

Our recent stay at The Lazy Duck (August 2024) in Scotland was nothing short of magical. This charming retreat offered a perfect blend of nature and comfort. From the moment we arrived, the peace and tranquility enveloped me. The surrounding forests provided a serene backdrop, making our stay feel like a rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One of the highlights was the delightful outdoor shower. There’s something incredibly refreshing about showering under the open sky, surrounded by the sounds of nature. It truly enhanced the experience of being one with the rustic surroundings. Also, spending time by the ducks pond in front of the Ducks Nest cabin, we found pleasure in feeding the ducks, who waddled their way to us with eagerness. It was heartwarming to witness nature so closely. What truly set The Lazy Duck apart was the unparalleled hospitality. Sarah and Phil were incredibly welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed for our time there, while also allowing us the space to enjoy our peaceful retreat. Their warmth and attention to detail made us feel right at home. The Lazy Duck is a hidden gem in the woods of Scotland. From the tranquil environment to the enchanting wildlife and top-notch hospitality, our stay was an unforgettable experience. We left feeling rejuvenated and eager to return to this serene paradise!

Superb, proper escape from the hustle & bustle of daily life! You must be prepared to work a little and shed most of the regular ease of modern life. For example collect your own logs from the woodpile. Light the pot bellied stove and maintain your own heating, daily, or not! Boil water on the stove and mix cold into it from the rainwater barrel, walk it to the outdoors water bucket shower, alfresco (?) and enjoy the invigorating breeze across your skin as the warm water drizzles over you whilst you wash. Maybe Feed the chickens on your way to the composting toilet. Another great 'loo with a view'! You might be lucky enough to watch a deer pass by! Make sure to buy a breakfast hamper and book a hot tub slot. This place is champion. πŸ†

Could not recommend enough! My partner and I stayed in the Woodmans Hut for a Valentines break and had a really amazing time. Hosts were accomidating and friendly. Managed to squeeze us in last minute for a few days, which we really appreciated 😊 The hut was lovely and private - tucked away in the woods and has everything you need for a few nights off the grid. Toasty fires, outdoor shower and a hammock for stargazing. Views are gorgeous. We were really lucky with the weather and got 2 sunny days and clear nights. Lots to do in the surrounding area too. We will l definitely be back!
