Check in: |Arrived at half 3 and was told lodge wasn’t ready till 4, to await a call back and if no call received to return to reception after 4pm. Whilst waiting we went to the outdoor children’s play area. I wouldn’t say they were most user friendly for young children like my daughter who was 2. As to access the slides you had to climb up large rope style stairs. |Didn’t receive a call back so returned to reception at just gone 4, the lodge was ready. |Check in itself was easy enough, was told lodge number/location.|I had booked via hoseasons and when I booked there was an offer on which was 25% off lunch and breakfast and free activities. At the time of booking I emailed the park to confirm this and was told when I checked in I would receive all of these details. I showed my email conversation to the reception staff, none of them seem to be aware of it. I was then told that the manager Toby had left. The lady showed the manager the email and went all I can offer is 10% off food and that there is no free activities. So this was a bit disappointing as I had been told I would receive free activities and 25% off prior to my arrival. I personally feel it should have all been honoured, just because the old manager had left and there was a new manager who didn’t know anything about it. I will also complain to Hoseasons about this. ||Our lodge itself was in Hannafore Heights. The lodge appeared brand new and very modern decor. The main bedroom was at the back and had adequate space for a travel cot which worked well for us. The other 2 rooms were 2 twin rooms. The first twin room was adequate in size and had a wardrobe. There was TVs in all bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom was extremely small and tight in size. It had 2 single beds but the space between the beds was extremely tight and the wardrobe stuck out quite a bit so I’d be conscious of people banging their heads. There was only 1 bathroom and toilet en suite in the main bedroom. There is no bath just a shower.||You are provided with 2 dishwasher tablets, a sponge, tea towel and cleaning cloths and 2 bin bags. If you’re staying longer than 4 nights you may wish to bring more with you. We took cleaning wipes, kitchen roll and toilet roll etc to save having to buy once you are there. Towels are provided in all rooms but need to provide your own towels for the pool and sauna. Take hangers too. There was 6 in total in the rooms. ||We ate and drank at the stargazy restaurant. The family room at the back is spacious and plenty of tables around the soft play area. The soft play is small but enough for small kids. It was all very clean and no smell at all. It appeared to be well looked after. Kids meals were £8 roughly no deals such as starter main or dessert for kids. Main menu food was average in price £15-18 for a main meal. They advertise a games room inside but all we could see was a pool/snooker table not sure if there is other games they offer or another room but we never found it. ||We used the pool once. You can book this for free 1 week prior to the holiday starting. Clean changing facilities. The pool is 1.2m deep. There is no lifeguard. There isn’t any slides or anything for kids so bring some toys for them to play with to keep them entertained. You get 50 min time slots in the pool. ||The surroundings of the lodges are well maintained and all very clean. The area is really quiet. Even though other lodges were occupied you didn’t hear them. It feels very safe to stay here. ||There is an Aldi and Morrisons in Liskeard which is about 15 mins away. ||We visited polperro, Eden project, Millendreath beach, Looe beach and Lappa valley. All within less than an hours driving distance from the lodge. ||I just wish check out wasn’t at 09:30 it feels so early 10:30 or 11 would be more suitable. ||Overall we had a lovely time here and really enjoyed the lodge. We are already thinking of booking again. We really enjoyed Looe...
Read moreIt all started badly with lots of accommodation not ready for 4pm check in. We had to wait a further 40 minutes. The two blonde ladies on reception acted as if they did not care at all and were not apologetic. The only one who actually seemed to care was the brunette lady.||The site is also poor for disability access. When you arrive you have to park outside the site, we were told we could go in but there might not be a space to park. Outside the venue where there is the bar/restaurant and facilities there is no disabled parking. When I raised this, I was told that they couldn’t put a disabled space there as it was gravel parking. I have suggested they could put a wooden sign in the ground, so maybe this will change. ||We booked a signature caravan, my understanding is that this is the top level of caravan before a lodge. How waterside can sell what we stayed in as signature I have no idea.||This is what we experienced, I will include photos too:||- very dated decor|- dirty/mouldy shower screen where the trim at the bottom was falling off.|- silicone all raising around the bath.|- the kitchen bin stunk.|- the caravan was dusty.|- the main door stuck when opening.|- musty smell in the main bedroom.|- well used scratched veranda.|- a very old looking shower.|- sliding doors that hang when opened.|- wall paper in the bedroom that was been peeled off.|- kitchen cupboards look to have been covered in an attempt to modernise, but are all bubbled with holes in.||I feel that the caravan is not suited to young families, as there is no gate on the veranda. We have stayed on a lot of different sites and never had this. Also the sliding doors are unsafe as when they open the hang off the top hinges.||After putting up with this for 2 days, we complained at the accommodation manager Molly came to the caravan with the maintenance manager and repaired the shower screen trim that and the door. Both were in agreement that the caravan was not up to standard and lead me to believe we would be compensated.||After they left, I realised that musty smell in the bedroom was the bath leaking and there was damp in the bedroom and the carpet in the corner was all mouldy so it must have been like it for a while.||Due to this we checked out a night early, I have never had to do this before but we were not prepared to sleep in a damp room and were only there for one more night so it wasn’t worth asking to move. Although I believe they were fully booked. ||Molly lead me to believe we would be compensated on top of our refund for the night we didn’t stay, but would not agree anything with me until after we had left. She then only agreed on refunding me for the night we didn’t stay.||Waterside advertise as a 5* resort. I do not think this was 5* service and the accommodation was nowhere near 5*. ||I also filled in a form to complain to head office on their website and never heard anything back.||There were some positives, the site is clean, the indoor pool Is new and nice and the kids park is nice too: we also had a nice view with a lovely hot tub.||I have always heard good things from friends who have stayed in waterside around Weymouth area,|But I would never stay at Waterside again after this experience. There are so many better...
Read moreI stayed at the Manor house during October 2024 with a group of 15. The house has been recently refurbished to a really high standard and was plenty big enough for 4 families (8 adults and 7 children). On arrival the house was nice and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and there is 2 of everything (including larger white goods such as washer/driers) which was super handy. 4 of the bedrooms upstairs were ensuite and there were 2 separate bathrooms, so plenty for everyone! There is also one bedroom for 4 downstairs but we didn't actually need to use this. There is a small garden with the property but it is very open so not great if you have younger children as they can just wander off into the road/park. I think some fencing would be a good idea. The hot tub outside is a lovely addition and we spent several evenings in there! The steps/ramp up to the house is quite steep and can be really slippy when wet so bare this in mind if it's been raining, there are signs to remind you.||The park itself was lovely. Definitely not your standard holiday park. Everywhere was really clean and all garden areas were well kept. There is a lovely woodland area with a forest school and a couple of lakes onsite that we had a nice walk around. The whole park in general seems to be on a hill so be prepared for some steep hills!||The park offers a variety of activities (mostly paid) that you can book on their app and during our stay we took part in the night time bat walk, footgolf, the ghost train (Halloween activity), rifle shooting, meet the animal, pole fishing and segways. We really enjoyed all of these and the staff running them were brill.||The onsite bar/restaurant was really lovely and has a very small soft play area for under 6's. It did get busy at times but the atmosphere was lovely. We had a few meals in here and they were all nice. There was entertainment on most nights, if not every night but we didn't really see much of it. Staff were all nice and friendly. The outdoor seating area also looked really nice and would be lovely for the summer evenings.||Unfortunately during our stay, the indoor swimming pool was closed for refurbishment and isn't due to reopen until spring 2025. We were really disappointed about this and we didn't receive notification of this until 4 weeks prior to our stay. Why they closed it the week before half term I cannot fathom but we were given vouchers to go and use a pool at another park a 9 minute drive away. We never did this though as it was just inconvenient. There was a lot of heavy machinery on site because of this but it didn't bother us too much. The plans for the new pool do look great though.||Overall, we had a great time staying at Tregoad and were super impressed with the Manor house. As an independent travel agent I would recommend this site to my clients who are looking for a Cornish staycation. For more advice and tips on travel find me on instagramand Tiktok...
