A hidden gem just off the A143
What a lovely surprise to discover the Fritton Owl Sanctuary tucked away beside the garden centre and flea market. Very easy to find just off the A143 Beccles Road, with ample parking available on site.
The Owl Sanctuary itself is free to enter and beautifully maintained, offering a close-up look at a wide variety of owls and other birds of prey. We actually entered via the garden centre and flea market – a great way to approach, as both are also well worth a visit in their own right. The flea market is packed with curiosities and vintage items, and the garden centre has a great selection of plants.
The whole site has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere – perfect for a gentle afternoon out. Highly recommended for families, nature lovers, or anyone passing through the area looking for something a...
Read moreLarge free parking area out front and access to the owl sanctuary straight from the car park or through a very interesting indoor car boot. The sanctuary is home to lots of different rescued owls with their names and stories on their cages. Some days, some of the owls are put on posts for people to get close to. They have donation pots to help with the running of the sanctuary.. If you then go down a small pathway it leads to an area with goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and various birds to look at and buy. You can purchase seed to give them. You can walk over a bridge and look at the ducks. Thoroughly nice day out for adults...

It's also attached to a garden centre, and indoor antique/flea market, and cafe, so once you've been and seen the owls, which won't take long, it's worth a meander around the rest of the place. The dozen or so owls are charming, full of character and well looked after. There was a big parrot called Charlie, I think, who was just wonderful. We payed to handle a couple of the birds, £5 each and it was absolutely brilliant. The volunteers running the show were so knowledgable, and engaging, and really made us feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit for an...
