A beautiful reservoir set in the idyllic countryside of the East Midlands. Stocked on a regular basis with top quality fish it also has many sizeable resident trout waiting to be found in its waters. Offers both bank and boat fishing, including a wheelie boat for those of us with mobility issues etc. (which has a push-button start engine). Whilst fishing you can also enjoy the wildlife or keep an eye on the sky to witness one of the frequent fly overs by veteran aircraft such as the Lancaster or Spitfire. (Eyebrook was used for practice by the famous Dambuster squadron.) There is a good tackle shop on site, offering everything from rods, lines and flies, to clothing or fly-tying paraphernalia. They also have a fridge with cold drinks and snacks. There is also a small kitchen offering help yourself tea/coffee with tables and chairs to enable you to take a break. Read moreI understand the reservoir is now owned by Tata Steel. There is recent evidence of extensive tree felling, including old oak trees. I have contacted Tata Steel to ask why this is happening at this time of Clinate Emergency. Trees fix carbon, mitigate flooding, provide habitats for thousands of species of plants, invertebrates (base of our food chain) & vertebrates & much much more (including supporting our mental health). Felling trees releases carbon, destroys local (& ultimately whole planet) ecology & the balance of our natural world, hastens climate change & global warming....
