A very pleasant and relatively quiet walk from the village of Edale up onto Rushup Edge via the Chapel Gate,(track), and then heading in the direction of the Tumulus that is very aptly named “Lords Seat”. Today’s weather was mixed with low clouds but the views were still great. We stopped at “Lords Seat” for a sit down and to admire the view. Continuing on towards the end of Rushup Edge you have a choice of descending via a gentle path on the right hand side OR a much harsher and steep path on the left. If you want to avoid the masses of people who are visiting Mam Tor then Rushup Edge is an excellent alternative choice.

Walked over Rushup Edge many time the views looking down to the village of Edale are wonderful with the hills of Kinder Scott in the background. It's up to you how far you make your walk. There's a National Trust car park at the base of Mam Tor if you only fancy a short walk on the edge and back. For the more adventures you can do a circular walk down to Edale Village. The wind can be very strong so take care if your walking near the edge it's a long way down. It's a great walk any time of the year I go up all seasons...

For those not wanting to follow the masses up Mam Tor, this offers a more sedate walk, offering up views over the Edale Valley and on to Kinder Scout. A montainbike trail is available letting walkers roam unhindered. It is also an excellent soaring site for hang and...
