This is the Moel Famau alternative that's really worth visiting. Not only do you have a roughly similar amount of ascent and distance in your climb - offering you views pretty much just as good as MF's, but you get one extra thing on top: the chance to look AT Moel Famau itself, as part of the scenery. I also prefer not being able to see the river Dee quite so easily, as it makes the whole place feel that much further/deeper into Wales' rugged countryside (I say that as someone who lives on the Wirral, who likes to feel a little further away from it). It's also a LOT less crowded, and still lets you benefit from the sizeable car park and the information boards to read at the bottom. It's also got a cairn up on top, which is interesting all on its own! Well worth a visit, particularly if you've already climbed Moel Famau and want something new but similar.

Far quieter than Moel Famau and equality spectacular views. Could see all the way to Blackpool and the shadow of the Lake fells in the background Liverpool, Manchester, Winter Hill. Helsby and Frodsham hills. Peak district beyond as a darker layer on the skyline. Closer easy yo see Minera mountain, Eglwyseg, Moel Gamelin. All the wayto southern Snowdonia Cadair Idris, Arenig Fawr. Then to northern snowdonia Moel Siabod, Tryfan, Glyders Snowdon, Crib Goch, I could go on. Just spectacular ✨️

Lovely walk with Offa’s Dyke on part of the route and an ancient fort on the top.

A nice walk and I didn't see a soul up there. From the car park looking at the top you can aim directly at the peak for a pretty steep climb or aim right of the peak along the offa's dyke path for a...
