A great walk up from Hay Bluff car park or the longer route up from Gospel Pass car park. From Hay Bluff car park you can climb straight up or take the zig zag Offa's Dyke path (easier). The views on a clear day are stunning and late afternoon walkers in winter months might catch the sunset over the Brecon Beacons. Check the weather before you head out! Cloud and rain can arrive quickly and be ready for strong winds at the top. For generations, The Bluff has been a favourite of our family – from Hay Bluff and Llanigon. If you're in the area, Hay-on-Wye is worth a visit for the book shops, cafes and the castle. For more walks try Waun Fach and the Dragon's Back. Or head West to the Brecon Beacons and Pen-y-Fan. The highest peak in South Wales. Enjoy.

The walk from Pandy to Hay Bluff along the top of Hatterall Hill is one of my favourite sections of the Offa's Dyke. I first walked it back in 2014 and had great weather that day which provided the most incredible views - I've now hiked it a number of times since in various weather conditions, including snow, sleet & rain, and I've enjoyed it every time. On a clear day you can see for miles around. On your descent from Hay Bluff it's not too far a hike into the quirky little town of Hay on Wye. I'm looking forward to hiking this section again very soon and possibly camping in the Black Mountains.

Lovely and fairly easy walking from the Gospel Pass car park. I didn't find it challenging and the route is quite easy to follow to the summit. It wasn't the best of days that i had chosen, Loads of hill fog and mist so i never had the views sadly. From here its a fairly easy walk to Black Hill and the dragons / cats back ridge which is worth the extra few miles. Once the sun came out here the views were as good as anywhere. I did it during the week so had the place virtually to myself which is always nice. Visit, enjoy and take your litter home to keep these green space's looking lovely.
