Was looking forward to playing to The Addington. I had heard it was undergoing a lot of work on the course, but decided to go anyway. Unfortunately, this put a huge dampner on the experience. In some places it was like a bit of a war zone, with fires burning tree stumps, bellowing smoke over the fairway, lots of GUR and heavy plant machinery dotted around the course, was also pretty slow play. I'm sure it will look magnificent when it's all finished but it will take a few years to get it to where they want it to be. Having said that, the greens where fantastic and there's still some untouched parts of the course that were lovely, so be aware if you come to play there are a lot of changes going on and maybe should reflect this in green fees. Read moreLovely course with plenty of practice areas to prepare for your game. Love the wedge range and massive chipping/putting areas too. Course is in an emaculate condition, and the greens are very fast. Beware of false fronts and slopes of greens though. These can be sloping front, back, left and right towards rough or bunkers. Often taking an extra club away from these run offs is key to avoid getting beaten up by the excellent layout.
Members all friendly and helpful as were the staff, nice halfway house with friendly staff who were chatty and a pleasure to see half way round. Well worth a visit if you can when guests are allowed. I was lucky enough to play a matchplay against the home side here. Also amazing views when at the top...
Read moreThoroughly enjoyed our day at The Addington GC.
Our group being from Australia and Norway, Phil and Nigel in the pro shop couldn’t have been friendlier or more responsive to our queries pre round. Then, on arrival they shared their knowledge of club history and the restoration work.
The course was super interesting and they’ve done an excellent job on the restoration. Removing trees to open up playing corridors, improve turf conditions and strong bunkering.
A solid test with the elevation change and bunkers.
The par 3’s and short 4’s were the standouts for mine. Some quirky holes, strong green complexes and...
