
As you would expect from such a famous and legendary place, this forestland is very well kept and quite a sight to behold because of the diversity and age of the trees. There are several trails varying in length to explore, a very decent visitor's centre, good parking (only £6 for the day), some activities for children to partake in and the odd medieval festival. A small square of shops preceeds the way to the forest with some unique ones among them.

Dog owners be warned, they have a massive tick problem in this forest, they have responsibly put signs everywhere though, good on them. My dog had a good spot on deterrent on and several times when he just stopped to sniff the long grass on the verges, he came away with a tick on his head! It's best to keep them on the lead and give them a really thorough check after the walk. The Giants Trail is worth picking up too, lots of large oaks to see. Plenty of parking here,...
