Mundsley on the north Norfolk coast is a favourite, and a regular visit. Although there is only 1 main carpark, which is in the centre of the village, it's quite large and overflows to a large field at the rear, and isn't too expensive. A short walk from the carpark and you are at the main slope down to the beach and promonade. The main prom extends about 200yds either way, with mainly beach huts to the left and a coffee shop / basics food shop, a beach shop with all the usual associated items and public toilets Inc disabled to the right This beach area Infront of the prom is where most people choose to sunbathe and or swim, and is patrols by life guards during peak and busy times. The area is popular with dog walkers, Inc myself and although dogs are not allowed on the main area of beach at any times a short walk in either direction and dogs are allowed off the lead and you generally meet plenty although the further afield you don't have to walk much more than a mile to be solitary. This entire area has a reasonably shallow coast and leaves plenty of pools to paddle and descover. Check tide times as at high tide most of the beach is...

If you want a sandy beach wander, go to Holkham. If you want a wander through the a pine forest that reaches high into the sky, the area to the northwest of Wells is perfect.
If you’re a birdwatcher, go to Cley Marshes, and see some of the best birding ever. I’ve met people there who have come from over 300 miles away just to see the smallest migrant bird.
For food, the villages and towns along the coast (All accessible via the coast path) have such a varied menu, from local seafood to the best tasting cakes
The only thing Norfolk doesn’t have, is mountains, and if you do want to add some height to your wander, you can start at Sheringham Park, wander through the forest and the grounds, past Weybourne train station with the historic trains, down to the beach, and this is where the cliffs begin, all the way to Mundesley
In Summer, you have the sun setting over the sea, with the big skies setting the skies alight...
Read moreWells-Next-The-Sea is a lovely beach, great expanses of sand when the tides out. Of which it goes way out! Lovely and clean and peaceful, not overcrowded. It is a fair walk from the town, but pleasant and flat & level. Lots of shells 🐚 for the kids to find. Late afternoon approx 5pm? We heard a loud siren 🚨 going off like an air raid warning! I could only assume it was to warn everyone about the tide coming in . If you were as far out swimming in the sea and not in one of many inlets , it was a long walk back to land! Within 5 mins of the alarm the current in the inlet we were just lying in suddenly really picked up, enough to pull small children off their feet and away. So beware. Really lovely fish and chips too! We visited on a Friday, the eateries seemed to stop serving by 9pm,then only selling what's left in heated cabinets. They tend to have music festivals too in town. Fri/Sats/Sun. So worth...
