Unfortunately, farmoor is focused primarily on trout fishing, no lures less than 6 inches are supposed to be used for perch, no trebbles and no barbs (and yes the ranger came round and checked our jigheads!). kinda says it all really, there is some pike in there. However, it's not as prolific as it used to be, vanishing stocks of pike and the focus on trout angling would suggest that perhaps the pike aren't very welcome, and neither are the pike anglers.. I'd have preferred to have not have wasted a journey to a venue that is so clandestine and backwards in regards to modern angling practices, and appreciated it more if they would have just banned angling for anything but the trout. I'm sure there's plenty of money to be made from the trout anglers, in essence, they don't need the income from any other sources. Personally, I'd avoid fishing here again as they clearly want people angling, however they don't want people catching.. I was very disappointed, and shocked by the bailiffs approach, picking on 2 younger lads and complaining because the single jighead that the younger lad had just put on hadn't had the micro barb crushed.. completely unreasonable, and not worth my time or my...
Read moreI very much have always enjoyed my time walking around this place for over 20 years but only a hand full of visits a year. However I went for the first time in 2020 and I was heart broken because it was my 2 year old sons first explore of the reservoir,we got some really really horrible looks from senior locals who was walking the route too.i feel a new ere is upon us where ethnic minorities are not made to feel welcome by local people because the fact they believe it's there right and power to make us lower. My son was riding he's electronic car along the reservoir walkway however over half a dozen older senior locals gave my son such horrid looks of shame whilst shaking there heads out fifth disappointed. On another note it's a fabulous place for anyone to...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place for a day out it has an excellent Waterside Cafe the staff are amazing and the food excellent and the cake oh dear they are so nice one slice is often not enough. The walk around the reservoir is very nice especially with the sailboard and sailboats weaving across the watery expanse, you can also walk on to the nature reserves from the reservoir and carpark. It has become one of my wifes and my favourite places and if you get peckish the nip into the Cafe for a cuppa and a slice the c'A'ke Team will serve you with politeness and excellent tasty food. One downside to all this is the bins ar seldom emptied and the toilets are often filthy, the cleaning team really do need supervison and checking on daily. But otherwise...
