Great walk up to Place Fell summit. From the top you can see for miles. It took 90 mins to get to the summit from Patterdale. From the top we headed north and dropped back down the other side of the fell with great views of Ullswater. Park in Patterdale Cricket Club. Plenty of space and £5 for the day. There are free toilets in Patterdale village.

A brilliant summit with great views over Ullswater. We parked in Patterdale and went up Beda Fell first before then dropping back down the other side and coming up to Placefell then returning to Patterdale.

I’m very fat and I made it up from Patterdale in about 1hr30m. Made myself a nice little cairn too. Lots of friendly sheep on the trail to motivate oneself up the mountain.

Stunning at the top! Well worth the hill climb. No toilets, no shop! Take what you need! Park at Patterdale Hotel (£5 in coins needed! all day ticket) Start at George Starkey Hut next to the school. Walk to Side Farm Camp Site. Turn left if you fancy a scrambley trickier rocky path. Turn right if you want a wider flatter gravel path. Both fairly steep, I would say moderate to hard. You could do both paths for a...

Completed a steady walk to the summit . Weather cold & dry but very windy. Took four 60 year olds 2 hours to ascend and 1.5 hours to come down. Path well defined, good under foot with a mainly gradual but continuous ascent . Great views of Patterdale and Helvelyn range...
