Played Colvend on Monday 27th of August 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The first hole looks a bit daunting but don,t let it put you off, the hill is the steepest you will play. The views all around the course are beautiful, from sea scapes to hills and fire trees. The opening few holes lull you into thinking this is not to demanding, and then you play the 8th hole par 3, what a hole. Water running just in front of the green and an out of bounds through the back, it is as if the course suddenly shows its teeth with out any warning. When you cross the road the holes are superb, one cracker after another. Make your score early because from hole 7 on wards you will use every club in your bag and regardless of your level of play, play the courses with respect and enjoy its charm. This is a course that you will be able to remember all the holes when you reflect on what you should have done, which to me is the sign of a great and fair golf course, well worth the journey to play. Colvend Golf Club is a great traditional Scottish golf course that uses the land as the good Lord gave it to us in the Donald Ross tradition of course design. The view from the third hole of the Firth is awesome! While the course is not long by modern standards , the elevation changes and prevailing winds insure that you will need to use every club in the bag to score well. The Club Pro/Manager is very friendly and helpful and he goes out of his way to make you feel at home. Greens fees are very affordable and the pace of play is very good. I Have played many of the top courses in the United States(like Torrey Pines, Pinehurst #2 etc), and when you look at the total golf experience of challenge, affordability, playability and scenery, I put playing at Colvend to be one of the best golf experiences...

This place is fabulous for so many reasons :- -Great views all round , the Solway firth, surrounding hills and the Cumbrian mountains . -Picturesque holes on a course in tip top condition . -A true parkland golfing challenge with dog legs, water, greens in great condition and hilly in parts but that provides the amazing views .You have to play twice to fully appreciate it . Friendly and welcoming members An abundance of bidlife ,we saw a Red Kite soaring , Crows ,Magpies Swallows ,Sparrows and Chaffinches . We cannot recommend it enough ,we played it twice on windy days with the odd shower but mainly bright and will play it again before...

Don't be fooled by the ~5000 yard length of the course. It's a proper 18 and you'll leave the course having felt like you've walked 6000, especially if the wind blows. It's a great layout with some really fun holes, some stunning views at the top, and it's incredible value. Lush fairways, true greens in great condition and I cannot recommend it enough. It's clearly a club run, with love, by a small number of active members, and I had a lovely chat with Peter who was giving his time up this morning. The area was a pretty random choice for my few days away, and I'm so glad I chose the area and this course. Highly recommended, and many thanks.

Warm welcome from players and staff, special mention for Wilma. Panoramic views from clubhouse with wifi, food and sky on the tele. Course in good condition with lovely views over Sandyhills bay coming down the 3rd and 5th with some longer, challenging parkland holes on the back 9. Best value visitor green fee compared to some in the region which are twice the price.
