Our trip to Fyvie Castle was truly enchanting. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the castle’s stunning architecture and its rich historical background.

Exploring the interior was a real treat. The rooms were filled with intriguing artifacts and historical items that transported us back in time.

A particular highlight was our tour guide. Their deep knowledge and genuine enthusiasm brought the castle’s history to life, making our tour both informative and entertaining.

The gardens were equally impressive. We loved wandering through the beautifully kept lawns and colorful flower beds. The walled garden, with its meticulously arranged vegetable plots, offered a peaceful escape.

The loch on the grounds added another layer of charm. The calm waters, along with the graceful swans and their adorable cygnets, made it a perfect spot for a leisurely walk.

Additionally, the quaint tea room was a delightful surprise. It provided a cozy spot to relax and enjoy some refreshments, and we appreciated that they accepted card payments, making it convenient for visitors.

While getting to the castle involves a single-lane drive with speed bumps and passing bays, we found the large car park to be very accommodating, making parking hassle-free.

In summary, Fyvie Castle provided a wonderful blend of history and natural beauty. The outstanding tour guide, stunning gardens, picturesque loch, charming tea room, and convenient parking made our visit unforgettable, and we highly...

Geese were amazing and the highlight of the show , unfortunately the whole experience was marred by rudeness from the receptionist who took it upon themselves to attempt to chastise a two year old for asking questions about the armour and sword displays while touching them, even after being reminded that the child is only two and does not understand not to touch, the snooty woman decided to snort and mutter incoherent nonsense, (herself the snooty as.most of it was nasal), we then rounded the castle to be greeted by an understaffed and over priced cafe(tea room) where a very thin slick of caramel shortbread will see your mortgage not paid for the month at £3.50 for a quarter of a regular one, this was fine and expected but the size of a poorly made squished 2 slices of white created beaten into a patty with granted cheese for the kids meal left a dour taste, fortunately we were able to remedy this with an overpriced ice cream, things soon git better as we realised the advertised times for the tours inside were based basicly on of they could be bothered or not, so the next one would be 3 ahead of the scheduled one that are every so often, we decided to cut away from all this so that our two year old would not offend anyone else and ventured upon some lovely geese, that saved the whole experience, my advice, drive in, see the geese and other animals, leave with a smile, the walled garden is not to be missed, who ever tends to it is...

Visited Fyvie castle yesterday, disappointed may I say , not with the castle or the grounds . Being a blue badge holder through various ailments I thought I would be fine but due to the fact that a wedding was going to take place they would prefer if I did not park so close to the entrance and would I move down 50 yards unfortunately due to heart failure 50 yards is a long way to walk. We decided to park in the main car park and I would take my mobility scooter back up to the castle, bad move due to the fact the grounds have small red granite stone paths the wheels became sluggish over the grounds so three quarters the way up the hill it was apparent that I wouldn’t make it and my battery was draining very quickly, I told my wife to carry on and I would go back to my car , 50 yards short my battery ran dry . I somehow managed to push the buggy back to the car after disengaging the drive system. When my wife returned to the car she informed me that they had put a bag over the disabled drivers parking sign obviously to prevent any other blue badge holder parking there god forbid it might annoy the wedding party. If you do decide to go to the castle phone ahead to see if there’s a wedding on find out if the bag has been taken of the disabled parking area . If so you should...

Great time had, while they went inside for the guided tour, myself and the dog enjoyed the outdoors. The guided tour took about 2 hours, while we sat outdoors on picnic benches at the cafe. They loved the tour and the guide knew her stuff. Very impressive castle inside and out. Disabled parking right at entrance or your in the main car park 5-10 mins walk down a hill

Update July 2024 Visited again today with grandson and family, including 4 yr. old great granddaughter. Whilst a lot of the detail from the superb guide was rather too much for her, we, the adults loved it and my great granddaughter really enjoyed being the "princess of the fairytale castle", albeit for a short while . As always the staff at Fyvie were superb. An absolutely wonderful NTS property and one which should CERTAINLY be on the castle visiting list. ⁹ Original comment. We have visited Fyvie Castle many, many times as it is the closest castle to our home (about 25 mins). This time there was an organised tour. (Every 45 minutes) We had half an hour to wait so took the chance of a coffee in the tea room which was excellent. The lady who was our guide was obviously very knowledgeable about the families who have made Fyvie their home over the centuries and her enthusiasm for the castle was infectious.
