This is a very interesting spot. Sailors hauled their small boats out to cross the island rather than sail round the headland. The great glen fault line also runs here, called here Walls boundary fault. It’s a fabulous spot. If you look on Atlantic side there are tank traps from world war 2. The short cut closed in the 50’s, probably when road was put in. Surprised they did dig canal,...
