Lovely place to visit, really enjoyed it, lovely lady told us about the house and how Burns used to live and his community spirit helping farmers read his books from his library. There is a short film about him which was a great little watch. very informative about him, his family, working life and farming. Nice little gift shop where we managed to purchase a poetry book with all of Burns work and absolutely extatic we found postcards here aswell, we looked quite a few places for postcards. Lovely walk by the river, some more wood carvings or information by the river would-be great whilst walking both South and North. Thank you for a welcoming and interesting visit. Highly recommended and we would love to...

What a fabulous day out for my husband, dogs and myself. We visited primarily because it is dog friendly and I knew some of the more well known Burns poems. We were blown away by our guided tour, hosted by Ronnie, which is much more than we expected. Ronnie was passionate and informative and spent time to explain the significance of Ellisland in the history of Robert Burns. The kind curator even allowed us to visit areas not normally open to the public. He is well deserved of the nomination received for the wonderful welcome he shows. We were then directed to a lovely walk with our dogs to see the Hermitage and nearby Friars Carse. I just want to extend our thanks for a...

Considering just how culturally important Ellisland Farm is it remains completely unspoiled by gift shops, coach parks and hoards of photograph taking tourists. It was at Ellisland that Burns wrote some of his greatest works including Tam O Shanter and The Wounded Hare. The trust that runs it have applied for UNESCO World heritage status, something it richly deserves and desperately needs. It would be great to see some money spent on preserving it and its treasures not just for Scotland but for the whole world. I really hope this can be done without spoiling its charm because as it is now you half expect to bump into Burns as you turn...

What a beautiful place to have lived. The house and museum were closed for the day, but I enjoyed a lovely walk through the gardens/grounds it has excellent access for disabled people and that’s from someone who has limited mobility, it was easy to access all areas and has plenty of benches to sit and relax or catch your breath or just to sit and relax as I did. I really enjoyed the short walk along the river bank and saw a Merganzer on the river Nith (duck with teeth) which is quite rare and also a wild Mink with a freshly caught young Hare, not something you see everyday. So thank you and hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did taking them
