Pretty cool new facility. CIA offers all the things you'd expect to see at an ice facility - rental skates, cafe, spectator area etc. There is also plenty of free parking available (use the park and ride entrance). The rental skates are okay - fairly dull edges but fine for most beginners who won't notice the difference - maybe I just had a dull pair. There is usually a marshall on the ice during sessions to help people up if they fall etc. which is great if you're new. They don't, however, seem to be particularly vigilant at enforcing the rules and I'm not really convinced anyone reads them anyway - quite frequently you will come to a stop as you're blocked by a wall of 10 people holding hands or a standstill group posing for a photo in the middle of the ice. Just use common sense and be prepared to stop at short notice - it's not a huge deal and most centres seem have this same issue. Overall, its a nice facility and a good addition to things to do in Cambridge.

Sessions on the ice go on for an hour, so if your an infrequent skater, it will feel like almost too much time! Since it's an indoor ice-rink, it gets very chilly so wrap up warm, even if it's summer. The ice is very spacious. I would recommend not going into the last session as the ice is very scratched up by then. The booking doesn't include skate rentals (+£2.50) you can use card. Also bring an extra £1 for lockers. Other than the lockers, you can be cashless. Update: skate rentals now £3. Recommend you pre-book on the app if you're going more than once. If not just book online. Lockers are now free.

Modern, fun and a fantastic place to go as a couple or together with families. Nice seating and cafe for those on the peripheries as mere spectators. The ice arena is a good size, for those with children, they provide apparatus as adaptive aids, however the children need to be under a meter. There are Marshall’s or wardens on the ice arena who are there to help in case a need arises. The sessions are for a good time period and we were there for almost 45 mins which was more then enough time to have a great time. Finally, value for money!

The Coffee&Skate sessions on Friday mornings are wonderful. The coaches do an excellent job in teaching elements of Figure Skating (including the basiscs of Ice Skating), and would like to suggest that more such group sessions (including both specific elements of Ice Dancing and Figure Skating from the Skate UK Star syllabi) are being implemented on Sunday mornings (after the Learn2Skate sessions) at 11:15am and on Saturdays from 13:00. For instance:

On a Sunday 11:15 to 12:45 [90 minute] or two back2back 1h group sessions: e.g. 11:15 to 12:15 & 12:30 to 13:30. & On a Saturday between 1pm to 2:30pm [90 minute] or two back2back sessions e.g. 1pm to 2pm & 2:15pm to 3:15pm are also good times for (an) ice skating group session(s).

If I were to attend a Patch Ice / Learn2Skate session on either a Saturday or a Sunday, then it would be easier for me to return to the ice rink for an ice skating group session at the times mentioned above.

From my personal opionon I believe that such learning opportunities should be implemented on both Saturdays and Sundays and why not during the week.

The Cambridge Ice Rink is a wonderful place for learning and/or developing ice skating skills and it should be optimized as such.

PS: Additionally, I would also like to suggest an Ice Hockey Skating course to be made available at the Cam Ice Rink. For instance, the National Ice Centre has got a 6 level Ice Hockey Skating course.

Best...

Thankyou to the staff, Friday 3rd Dec 2021. 1930 - 2030. Don't want to publicly put a name online without their permission - but a super special lady helped my disabled son skate around on the ice.( I couldn't do it as I am having knee replacement Dec 13th). I thought he could use a penguin support device with help from my his brother, but my son was to tall to use penguin support device. The manager kindly allowed a staff member to assist my son. It was amazing, truly. The young lady was amazing. Next time I go I will bring additional people to help, as I did not know you could be to tall to use penguin support devices. Put my Faith back into humanity. If I could give more stars I would. I will be better prepared next time, but thank you for all your help to make my son participate. If you are disabled, please note, the penguin support devices are only for small children. I admit my ignorance, thinking my son could use it with his brother. Don't expect the same support we received. We will return, but I will bring another adult ( not just his brother). Yes I may of been unprepared in hindsight assuming the penguin support device was for everyone. But thankyou so much to the staff, it really made my...

Were visiting today (for the first time) with the family for my daughters bday. Staff were rude, receptionist didn't know what to check, did not even bothered to ask if we were visiting first time etc... I was expecting receptionist explain at least basic rules and advising us where we can pay to hire balance support for the small child, we went to get our ice skates and been again met by rude staff who nearly throwing skates to you, seen the posters about balance support hire and asked she just pointed to the reception and told me to go pay there, i went back there to pay and already been a huge queue to wait (which was waste of my time i paid for ice skating), skates was so uncomfortable i had to get out from the rink 15 minutes later and never got back on, while waited for the family i wanted to get hot drink for me from the cafe just behind the glass but cafe were closed... Reopened just before we left... So first impression is not great, would need a better receptionist and staff to train on customer service at the skates...
