Parking available at St John's in the Vale for a few cars, but try not to park on Sundays when there is a service on. Road is very narrow, there is a gate to open half way along the road. Steady walk up for about 40 minutes as soon as you pass the youth centre, some good views of Thirlmere and over towards Keswick.

Park at the United Utilities car park just north of Legburthwaite then take a walk up and over to High Rigg. Then down to St John's in the Vale and head back to the car park along the path on the eastern side. Drop in for a coffee at Low Bridge End Farm which is right next to the path.

5 and a half mile circular from the Legburthwaite car park , up to Wren Crag then onto High Rigg. Steep grassy track back down followed by a well maintained path along the valley back to the car park.

Beautiful views! We walked here from Castlerigg stone circle, where we parked, and did a 5.5 mile loop. It doesn't take that long to get up to the top of High Rigg, but because there are some steep sections and the views are so dramatic, it feels as satisfying as climbing a much...

A good walk with excellent views. About 6 miles to walk from one end of the ridge to the other and come back on the path on the east side down by the river. Quite easy going with good paths even after heavy rain and flooding. Good for exploring and scrambling and quite difficult...
