Our visit to amerton farm was a short and disappointing visit. Staff was welcoming and friendly great start. Then we entered the indoor play area and that's where it all went down hill. We went with two children aged 3 and 5 and the play area was 100% unsafe for them to use. Maybe for bigger&older children but not for younger kids as it's made out of solid wood and the gaps in the wood and bridge my two children kept getting their feet stuck In the gaps. After being there only 25 minuets our 3 year old had 4 accidents trapping his ankle, bumping his head of entrances of the play areas to then slipping on the wood and smacking his mouth off the floor causing his mouth to bleed. We reported the accident to staff and the young girl couldnt do enough she was friendly and made sure little one was okay brought him water and paper towels. When questioned about the safety of the okay area for children's she just suggested to get the directing manager called Amy to come and see us for a chat. 20 minuets went buy and she came stomping over with a face of thunder and attitude. Before we even got chance to speek she came over and first words out her mouth was, I don't know what has happened but if your not happy get your stuff we will give you a refunds and you'll be escorted off the premises. We was in disbelief as we had done nothing wrong but just wanted a chat as our little boy was hurt. My partner just said I only wanted a chat as we have only been here 25 minuets and both children have been hurt in some way because of that play area. But we will get our stuff and leave. Her attitude stunk! And she has not empathy what so ever and wasn't interested in having a civil chat to us! If you have younger children I would not recommend this place what so ever!! And they way management speek to their customers I wouldn't even give them your custom! It's a shame as everybody else was lovely and welcoming. But I mean if she can speek to her customers like that how is she treating her staff and animals!? Won't be...
Read moreReally disappointed following today's visit with family and friends. I have read a number of other negative reviews and appreciate the time taken by the owner to respond. We had lunch in Finney's Tea Room and this was an excellent experience and I have left a positive review accordingly. Unfortunately the experience in Billy's Play Barn was the opposite. The entrance fee for children (£7) seemed above average anyway (I can appreciate the extra costs having animals on site must bring) however, charging for adults on top as well is unacceptable (another £2). Nowhere else do you have to pay as an adult to sit in a cafe and supervise your own children. The price of the drinks was high whilst the quality and service was low. The "free" (let's say included in the price) guest WiFi wasn't working and the member of staff i asked about this was clearly uninterested when confirming it was broke. There really isn't much for the children to do inside as there are just a series of wooden structures with bridges in between and once they have ran round a few times they were bored (aged 7 and 9). The only other indoor attraction is the go-karts which they have the cheek to charge an additional £1 each for the privilege of using! The weather today was awful (one of the reasons we visited) so the outdoor activities were not safe to use nor was the tractor ride available. Maybe a reduced entrance fee could be considered for days like these? Final nail in the coffin was the fact that the customer toilets were a disgrace! I'm sure there has been a small fortune spent on refurbishing this place but unfortunately to us they seemed to have missed the mark in terms of value for money. Disappointed after visiting for the last 7 years with our own family and having been coming for 30+...
Read moreThe soft play barn is good but the rest feels a bit unfinished. Could do with putting a bound gravel or hard surface path around the outside farmyard where the chickens, goats etc are as you can take a pushchair but you spend 20 minutes getting it to a decent state to then go into the indoor play area if it's a wet day. If the owners see this please consider putting in an area to brush pushchair wheels off as it feels wrong doing it in the toilets and it'll help keep the indoor area clean. Also there's a few ramps or flooring joins that are trip hazards as they either aren't flush or have lifted. I'm not going to compare it to 'how it used to be', I don't think that's fair but the main complex and yard shops seem a bit random and aren't always open. I don't think the indoor race track section belongs there, it just seems out of place with some weird small fairground rides, it just feels a bit creepy in there walking past from the entrance to the till for the playbarn. Overall we had a good time and can't complain about the price. It cost me and my baby £6 to go into the barn section. I'd go again but I can see why a larger family would not go too often. It could be made a bit of an easier trip with some modifications and attention to details like the signage and not cramming too much into too small spaces. I don't think it'd be enjoyable if we'd gone and there were more than about 10 families there. I'd like to say thank you to the lady on the cafe till in the play barn, you were polite and welcoming, everyone else wasn't rude but just seemed a bit like they didn't want to be there and weren't very smiley or offer to help me with a pushchair through the very many closed pull doors which was disappointing when there's barely anyone there and you...
