Had a lovely weekend here camping with friends. 10 min walk to the beach for evening pizzas and day time strawberry coolers after a dip in the sea. Hiked to West Point from the campsite, amazing views and fortunate to have glowing weather. The campsite was kept clean and we had a sea view from our tent! Would have been handy to have info about shops as the onsite spar closed at 7 and very little non meat options. It's a long walk and some slightly strenuous climbing bits along the way. We took 4 hours, but had a good half hour stop at the top, taking in all the views. I wouldn't like to do it on a cloudy day, as you would not see as much. We could see Portland in one direction and the Devon coast in the other. I found the closest car park to be Langdon hill car park. Postcode DT6 6EP. Its a pay and display car park, national trust members are free. The walk to the golden cap is around 25 minutes with some walk through a forest. The last steps up to the Golden cap are steep, but there's not too many of them. You can also walk to the golden cap along the south west coast path. Its worth going, as the views are amazing, and there's a large sandy area at the top, where there's plenty of room for a few...

Stunning location even on a quite overcast day. Challenging walk/climb but with it for the views
