Turned up today to have a round of golf with my friend who suffers with autism, one of the things he has always wanted to do is to visit a golf course - we choose Stokesley for this as it is one of the smaller golf courses in our area which we thought would build his confidence being a good starting point. When we arrived we were met by Steven who worked behind the desk - we made it clear that we had not played golf before and certainly had not visited Stokesley golf before. We explained we had one golf bag with clubs in which we intended to share, Steven aggressively said this was not aloud so we agreed that we would hire a bag and share the clubs we had with us, Steven then went back on his word when it come to payment and said that we must also hire their clubs. When we asked and simple questions such as " can we hire golf balls " he rolled his eyes and made out that we were stupid. He then told us the only option was to buy new golf balls for £10 which we thought we expensive for a first round of golf - upon looking for the golf balls we found a bucket full of used golf balls being sold for £1 each - why didn't Steven suggest these golf balls? When challenged for his intimidating and belittling attitude Steven then became very aggressive and intimidating shouting at me and my friend and declared that we were barred. For this reason we asked for a full refund and left the course without playing.Such a shame that a place like this has such unprofessional people working for them.It took a lot for my friend to gain the confidence to actually approach a golf course for the first time and this has completely knocked all that confidence out of...
Read moreAttended today with someone who had hidden disabilities. I explained that I was a carer and didn't pay last time. I was told that everyone who plays, had to pay.
I went to get some money out of my car and decided I would just play crazy golf. I text the person's mum to let her know I had to pay, as I knew if she was expecting it, he would have had enough money to pay for us both.
We began to play crazy golf when a member of staff approached me and said that he had received a message from his mum. He told me that I didn't have to pay to walk around and she wants to get her facts right. I again explained that I hadn't paid last time and he said I must have done. He also said, " I don't know what you've told her, but you haven't paid for foot golf and you're playing crazy golf" At this point, I had to ask him to take it up with the mum, as I was trying to support someone to play golf.
His attitude was not appropriate and it is unacceptable to confront a customer in these circumstances. After conversations with the person's mum, there has still been no apology from the member of staff, includingthe inaccuracies which the messages included.
The messages were rude and abrupt, with parts in CAPITALS!
Safe to say, we will not be returning. A distressing experience for a vulnerable person who has barely left the house...
Read moreHad the footgolf not been so good and reasonable in price, this would have been a 1.... I paid for 18 holes so 2 rounds, half way through i noticed the daft sod on the counter marked down 9holes, had it in the back of my mind, as our session was near closing time, i thought all it takes is for me to be marked down as 9 holes, him checking his book or whatevrr system they use and him thinking i'd overstayed my time and thinking i'm gonna get chucked off here despite paying and having a right to be there. Took away the enjoyment actually. Its not like i was engsging the helpdesk worker much in conversation before going out to the course, distracting him while he filled in my card, i barely spoke to him, why oh why then was i marked down wrong. There'd have been fun if the guy did try and claim we overstayed our time, the 1 or 2 times i saw the staff member walking around i thought here we go, time for an argument. Something like footgolf, you want to be able to chill out, enjoy it, i did somewhat but was kind of on edge because some fool can't fill a couple of things out on a playing card properly, all in all good course, easy to get to good parking just dampened a bit by their...
