18.08.2018.The walk started in Freshwater and the grassy slope will stretch your calf muscles.Loads of space and the climb will be a long one.At the first seat turn around and enjoy the view. The cows in the field ahead of you are friendly, even the one's with calves. When you see the cross on the hill up ahead you will realise it's actually quite a long wslk but so worth it for the views. After the memorial the walk takes you into scrubland and a slightly wooded area. The cows live here. The rabbits too. There are barrows, not the type you push but ancient grave sites. They're the shallow bumps in the ground that don't really belong there. After a while you will see the antenna on the hill.I will leave you now take the last climb to the Needles. You'll be pleased to know there's a bus stop at the new battery.Enjoy the views on the downs, and the lack of people.Have fun.The last time i walked here was when i hiked around the island in my teens. It's a long walk all the way around the coastline...I did this walk on my 61st birthday today. Not quite as far as the first time but still very nice...Enjoy your walk.Walking from Freshwater might be the more strenuous option.Uphill...

Well worth getting the permit so people with walking difficulties can...
