Hastingford Fishery — Local services in Wealden

What an absolute gem of a find! I live just 15 minutes away, but it felt like I was in my own peaceful partnof the world. We stayed in the Carp Hut, which was spotless, incredibly comfortable, and absolutely beautiful.

Yoy dont need to be a fisherman to enjoy the huts. And although im not, I could still appreciate how much Mark cares for his lakes and stock.

The cabin was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need – every utensil and supply you could think of was there.

Mark even baked fresh bread and pastries for us in the morning, which, along with the fresh milk, juice, eggs, and butter, was the perfect.

The land is perfect for leisurely walks, and Mark made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay whilst we were there and Geraldine so wonderful, she was all over the booking - making sure we had everything we needed before, and after. This is certainly going to be a regular escape for me!

Just lovely! We had five days here and it was wonderful to be able to get out into the countryside. Mark and Geraldine are so helpful - Geraldine even advised me the best National Trust properties to visit in a wheelchair. The huts have everything you could possibly need in the he way of crockery and cultery as well as laundry facilities, comfy beds and DVDs (we watched the birds on the bird feeder instead) and surprisingly good internet connection which made checking availability of shops and historic houses etc easier. The shops are ten minutes away and the drive there is through roads lined with woodland full of wildlife. The bug zapper actually worked and despite the hot weather and being near water we weren't bothered by midges at all. Booked ‘Carp’ shepherds hut for 2 nights for my partners birthday, with two dogs, the property was easy to find, and communication from host was perfect, we were greeted on arrival and shown around, we had asked for the fridge to be stocked with meat which it was. The shepherds hut itself was even nicer than expected, and there really was everything you’d need in there. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into what guests may need. The shepherds hut was absolutely spotless and smelled lovely, bed was comfortable and there was a good amount on storage under the bed. The dogs had the best time walking around the grounds and watching the carp from our decking both sleeping like babies all night!

In summary, lovely attentive hosts, beautiful location, cosy clean accommodation, will definitely return, with our fishing rods...
