Definitely NOT the best seat in the house! Altiors PREMIER EXPERIENCE was extremely disappointing sat in an L shaped function room with the ONLY view of racecourse outside on a concrete balcony a 100m weave thro 200 guests & 20+ tables! There's also a split level floor that runs the whole length of the restaurant with a raised step which makes going out & coming back in after each & every race a challenge and an inconvenience. THERE IS NO VIEWING OF RACE COURSE FROM INSIDE THE RESTAURANT!! There are approx 8 TINY wall mounted TVs to watch the race on assuming you can see them. The only toilets are downstairs underneath the restaurant which means another weave thro all the guests and tables. The servers & staff need urgent training as our main course was brought to table but we still had starter plates! This caused confusion and panic as the waitress's didn't know how to deal with it! We ordered 3 bottles of Moet champagne before meal and it took about 15-minutes to arrive and even then it was served without any glasses! Very short staffed in restaurant and only 1 tote man to take bets from 200 guests sat at dining tables? (He was an absolute star, very busy but he never stopped, he tried his best to look after all of us and had a smile on his face all day long. He was definitely the star employee on the day (I'm sorry I can't remember his name) Despite the slow speed service & staff needing training they were polite and friendly and tried their best apologising throughout the day.... In summary I would not come back to Market Rasen racecourse as I have visited both Thirsk & Pontefract races recently as a premier guest - The Dine & View restaurants are superb you don't have to leave your seat - you can view the parade ring and the track/ full race course with the restaurant located at the finishing post which was a much more enjoyable and...
Read moreAttended ladies day in July. The weather was dreadful, cold with constant rain for most of the day. The inclement weather did not deter customers and it was very busy. The staff stayed pleasant and helpful despite the miserable conditions. Car parking is available and was well organised. It was not a pleasurable experience. The weather in England is often cold, wet and unpredictable. Therefore, this venue could be much better prepared. There was one indoor space serving food and drinks. As the weather was awful, it was packed. It was stuffy and steamy from too many wet bodies. People were crowded in, eating standing up as there were too few tables and chairs. It was loud, rowdy and unpleasant. The food court outside had no seating or shelter, just food vans around the tarmac. What a difference some gazebo/marquees would make, if permanent structures are not possible. In fact, if the weather was the opposite and it was hot, dry sunshine, there would be no shade either. There is a covered stand outside to watch the racing but not large enough for all guests. Most people were stood in the rain. There is a pre-book able restaurant, but not big enough for all guests. My party were unable to book a table. The toilets were dirty, the floor soaking...
Read moreAbsolutely perfect day out. We went on a family fun day and the weather was scorching. We bought tickets to the Tattersalls and the kids went in free. Lots of totes for choice of betting. Parade ring is well designed and easy to view with concrete steps and a grassed area. There are a choice of bars to buy refreshments I think a pint if carling was around £4.50 and a bottle of coke about £2.50 which is expensive but as expected. There was free water with lemon and lime slices availabe in the bar though. There was lots to see and do for the kids but ours are a bit older and the weather was too hot for playing around but we could see bouncy castles, face painting and pony rides available for the kids. Cash point in the building which divides tge lawn and the Tattersalls which states it charges for transaction but don't know how much though as didn't use it. Lots of toilets dotted around the place mainly located in the bars. Quite a bit if seating and benches but on a busy meet you're better off taking a picnic blanket or even your own deck chair. Lots if wheelchair accessibility. Mostly everywhere is sloped. An all round good day out...
