Beautiful place to visit. Wonderful trails for bike rides. Clean and loads of overpriced parking. Go Ape looks brilliant, we want to book soon. Unable to leave five stars due to lack of SEN facilities. No one here has any idea about invisible disabilities. Twice now we've had to leave with our daughter in sensory meltdown because she loves this forest and swing equipment so much she hates leaving so we are sadly not able to come for a while but thats not why I can't give 5 stars. My little girl is Autistic and meltdowns just happen to her sometimes. Some Sunflower hidden disability and SEN awareness notices are really needed to educate people about others around them. The thing lacking the most is SEN and disability playground equipment. There is none. Two baby swings today, two!?!. Due to my daughter being Autistic and having Hypermobilty she can only manage and be comfortable on a baby swing even though she is 10 years old. This means she can get confused, unkind and judgemental looks and comments from other parents, as do we of course (thank you to those who did not today). We try very hard to be aware of people around us so we can explain why she is swinging for a long time due to her sensory and stimming , most people are kind and understanding. If you try to stop our daughter in the middle of sensory and stimming play all hell can literally break loose so we need a few minutes to build up letting other parents give their child a turn, some were not understanding of this today due to there only being two swings but as no SEN on disability awareness information to make people think around this always makes it harder. We have things on us for awareness but sometimes its missed. This is a playground for Neurotypicals and children without disabilities only and it's not right and it's not fair. We can't only take our children to empty spaces or SEN events. My daughter has two Neurotypical sisters so we need to try and manage everyone's needs. I know things break and need replacing, I know things cost money but it's the summer holidays and the stress children's play areas and other parents can cause parents like us is unreal. You can sometimes make us feel like bad parents which we are not. Like we purposely don't share and are not aware of others which we are. Anyone can see that a 10 year old swinging on a baby swing for an hour and a half with her mum stood next to her trying to interact with her and hearing her speech delay while I try and explain to other parents and children and often getting ignored is surely not something you see everyday. Well done to all who those perfect parents of non SEN children and children without disabilities. Bravo to you for being so perfect. It must be wonderful being you and getting to look down on us. Please Thetford forest help include our children to. It's not difficult. Inclusion...

Read moreHigh Lodge is the forest destination in this area of Thetford Forest Park. It serves to bring lots of activities together in one easily accessed location. That being Go Ape for rope access experiences, Segway driving, play and picnic areas, bicycle rental and the ubiquitous gift shop. It is also a gateway to walking trails and rides in this area of the forest.
There are also events held in the summer, and indeed some art and experiential experiences year round.
It's great if you like your adventure organised and distilled into one area. Truth is that Thetford Forest is huge and very accessible from a number of fire tracks, rides and parking areas. They dont have the holiday camp organization, but equally it's not £11 to park for the day. Dogs get to run free, and there's less chance of being mowed down by a mountain bike and less Smokey the bear regulation.
I'd suggest you get a map (I believe they still exist):and get out and explore the greater area around Brandon and Thetford. Better than Da...
