Thorney Park has a large and very beautiful lake, leased by the British Carp Study Group for angling. Dog walking is permitted, and the Colne Valley trail walking and cycling route runs through the park. There are occasional cars parked by the anglers, but it's very peaceful.
Rabbits and squirrels can be seen in the scrubland Northwest of the lake, which is criss-crossed by grass paths. The path around the lake itself is packed clay, suitable for cycling and probably wheelchairs when it's dry in the summer. What wasn't expected was the amount of dog mess on the paths that hadn’t been cleared, along with one owner who let his dog do a poo in the middle of the walk path as we were walking and not clearing up after it. Noise from the motorway is horrendous. They also have an invasion of a moth that is dangerous to pets and humans so sections have been closed along the lake shore.
