With 36 holes on offer, as well as extensive practice facilities and a driving range, Worthing Golf Club has to rank as one of the best golfing facilities in the county.
The Lower Course, the longer of the two at just under 6200 yards from the yellows, offers some of the best Downland golf in the county, with plenty of spectacular holes from raised tee boxes, and far ranging views out to the Rampion Wind Farm and the Isle of Wight on a clear day!
The Lower course is a well bunkered layout, and when I played at the end of May was in fantastic condition, with some of the finest (and fastest) greens I have played in the county.
The course has a number of memorable holes, but my favourites are the long dogleg left par 4 2nd, the par 5 8th which snakes along a valley, the spectacular downhill par 4 10th and the tricky par 4 13th.
Overall, all of the above contribute to a very memorable experience, and I am already looking forward to returning!

Read moreI was really pleased with the Set Christmas lunch we had at the club. There were probably about 80 people at the event and we were all served at the same time. There were three courses and coffee and a really lovely atmosphere despite being in the main clubhouse. The tables were set for eight people but you could Still hear each other. The food was very good , tasty and plenty of it when the main course arrived. The bar prices were high , I thought but the staff , setting and service was very good . What I liked was that the club remained open whilst we were there , so it meant that the members could still use the club if they wanted. I'm not sure whether it is open every day for non members every day but I would go again if I was allowed. I didn't feel that we had been just accommodated in...
Read moreThe 2 downland courses at Worthing are a real test of shot making for any golfer. The Colt Course (Lower) is Par 71 and it’s true but severely sloping greens present a putting challenge where being the wrong side of the hole can mean 3 putts from almost anywhere. The Vardon Course (Upper) has most of its holes perched on the South Downs. Whilst shorter than the Colt it’s greens are small and the strong south westerly wind that often faces the golfer makes the course as much of a challenge. A healthy membership at Worthing means both courses are well maintained but check on available tee times before turning up. If you don’t have the best day on either course you’ll have some fantastic views to...
