I was a customer for about 22 years. Up until now, before they were bought out, I would give them a grade of B or B+; but over the past recent years, they're customer service in legal service has been going downhill. I also do not appreciate their own ethical tactics and poor responsiveness to my concerns. I've been giving them deservingly very bad reviews recently regarding the help that I've been receiving. Right now, I could write a disertatation of bad experiences that I have had to deal with. Twice, they raise my rates without telling me neither by email or by letter. I called them, and they claimed that they did. Then, I find out that all of a sudden, they do not give advice for non-nor-profit organizations. Then there was one situation where I asked for advice; and for all that, I knew the way they were supposed to operate. They would give you 3 lawyers for 3 different opinions. The first one gave me a certain advice. The second one also from their local law firm gave me opposite advice, and the third third one that they contracted out said he could not give me proper advice cause he was not the correct lawyer to ask; when I complained about it, they would not give me another third lawyer. Then they started saying that there are all different kinds of memberships and special one for business which was never before. The vast majority of legal shield members get it so that they can get business advice. Also, I was basically told that I was a liar, and I have notes on this as to when and who told me these things. They gave me the runaround. And then last week they sent me an email. The first one that I ever received from them from corporate telling me that they're ceasing my membership. Also, recently, they had one of their lawyers to help me with some issue. She had me go through many, many things. I spent a lot of time in weeks of gathering information to governor for her. Finally, after a month, what she instructed me to do apparently did not work. Then she gave me advice, which basically put me back at square one. I had to hire another lawyer to get the situation resolved. Then today, I received a letter saying that "based on the circumstances in information we have, we will not be able to continue provide your legal plan benefits and service under your legalsheild membership pursuant to general provision (a alphabetic letter)." The letter told me to call them if I had any questions. Unsurprisingly, they not only refuse to tell me what this all means, but they won't even tell me their own meaning of their contract of what this general provision was (Please note that this is the first written correspondence that I ever received from LegalShield since they were bought out, and that was years ago). I've been with them about 22 years, and they dumped me like a pile of dirt out of the blue without any reason specific and no recourse. This has to be one of the most disgraceful, incompetent organizations that have ever had to deal with in my entire life. They take no responsibility for their terrible treatment of me. I do not trust them, and you should not trust them either! Remember, this can happen to you too! Reader BEWARE that when they send a letter to terminate membership, they do not, and I repeat, do not explain why and give no specificities which is...
Read moreUnbiased review from a REAL member and associate since 2015.
As a member, I have used this service with success multiple times, most notably taking care of a couple of traffic tickets and keeping my driving record clean, stopping collection on a bad storage rental contract, and best of all helping me adopt my daughters as young adults after fighting CPS for 15 years for my rights to be their father.
There were a few circumstances in which I was not able to use the services successfully, and it was usually because my legal issue was where the law was not in my favor, and not because "the lawyer was no help".
As an associate, I have earned income from selling the service plans, so the money is definitely real. The support from the company and leadership is second to none, and they provide all the tools and training to be successful. Am I living on a private island and flying a private jet? No, but the opportunity and income helped lift me out of homelessness and get back on my feet after my 15 year long legal war for my kids.
Also, as a Cherokee Nation citizen, a Cherokee (Native American) by blood, I find these services invaluable to protect my rights when dealing with legal issues regarding the state government. While the services do not include handling legal issues with tribal governments, tribal law, or tribal courts, or federal Indian law, they serve to protect my rights in many other areas as a US citizen holding dual citizenship with my tribal nation.
In short, the services are real, the opportunity and income are real, and if you are open to it, this company can change your life like it has for me.
Don't bother with the one star "scam" reviews here. This company is indeed no scam; you get out of it what you...
Read moreLegal Shield is 100% an MLM SCAM!!! STAY AWAY!!! I was a member with my business for about a year, every time I needed any sort of legal help, it wasn't included in my plan and they would try to send me to an attorney who would still charge hourly rates? So, the membership is of no value. That's why I cancelled two years ago!
Well, wouldn't you know I got a letter asking me to renew, which I didn't choose to do. So, I didn't respond, and yet they charged me anyway. When I called to get a refund, it took four different calls to different listed business numbers to get someone on the phone, and then got transferred and put on hold. Meanwhile, I had to jump through hoops with sending a cancellation letter, and the lady I spoke to said she didn't handle the refunds, that's a different department and that it may take up to 60 days to process my refund of $1416 which I did not authorize! Unacceptable and ridiculous. I imagine they make a lot of money not processing peoples cancellations and re-billing them without their permission. This kind of business practice...
