The distillery is housed in the historic old fire station, adding a touch of nostalgia to the visit. During my visit, I was warmly welcomed by Shawn McCormick himself who shared stories of the distillery's heritage and the meticulous process behind their spirits. The tasting room, though modest, exudes charm and authenticity. I had the pleasure of sampling their signature Burton James Uniquely American Whiskey, a blend of hand-selected barrels that offers a delightful balance of flavors. The gift shop features a selection of branded merchandise and bottles, perfect for souvenirs or gifts. While the distillery is still growing, its commitment to quality and community is evident. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a great stop for whiskey enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Though it's a smaller operation, B.H. James Distillers captures the essence of Kentucky's rich distilling tradition. It's a place where history, passion, and craftsmanship come together to create a memorable experience.

We had the best time touring Burton James' Adairville, KY facility. The owner/operator is super cute and so polite. He gave us a tasting of the whiskies, bourbon, vodkas, and slushies. We loaded up on merchandise to take with us for future gifts and enjoyment. It was clearly evident that the town and locals have come to enjoy the Slushies, cornhole, and live music. There is a large space outside, lights, Adirondack chairs and wifi. They also had well stocked and clean restrooms! It is quite the setup. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We had the complete opposite experience from Tina…happened upon this little hole in the wall and they were so welcoming!! They did offer a tasting and it was great (nothing fancy, but good flavors and staff is knowledgeable). Their mixed drink suggestion was even fantastic. Also they in fact did let us use the bathroom. I will definitely be back and will take out of town...
