Beware of predatory booking practices. Booked a round for this friday online through Chronogolf today at 2pm where they offered a 10% discount. Too bad I didn't read the T&Cs before booking because the discount negates any possibilty of cancellation, even after calling the pro shop at about 230p where I was told "Why would a course offer a discount and allow you to cancel?".
Why? Because that's what 99.9% of other courses do, it's a common practice to allow folks to cancel their tee time up to 24hrs beforehand, regardless of discounted rate. This policy is completely intentional and predatory, guy at the pro shop had clearly made that statement many times before.
Which leads me to why I wanted to cancel in the first place: as many others in the reviews have stated "8 minute tee times make for a 5+ hour round". The last time I was here about a year ago, it was an absolute death march, the round took 5hrs 45min and we were asked by a ranger to "keep the rest of our group on pace". We were paired up with strangers and I'm not a ranger who is paid to be there, it's not my job to keep my group on pace. Period.
Can't believe this place has 4 stars on here, complete joke...
Read moreSaw a couple of reviews that seemed to disparage this course. That is entirely the opposite of my recent experiences. Yesterday for example, I showed up mid morning and was able to get on the coarse as a single within fifteen minutes and played well within three hours. Clubhouse and starters are all very professional and helpful. Fellow golfers are respectful of a single and I was allowed to play through when conditions permitted.
Another example of the professionalism of the staff: a couple of weeks ago, I arrived to play as a single to find that they had a shotgun outing scheduled. The manager immediately suggested that I try their sister course at the Preserve of Oak Meadows and got me on there within two minutes. Very impressive customer care.
In summary, this course is a great value for those who have the patience and appreciation for the total...
Read moreIf you're looking to play some golf and have fun with your friends or family, DO NOT play here. I came here with 3 friends and brought 3 beers (1 per person) and was scolded for bringing them. We threw them out once we realized we weren't allowed to BYOB but were stopped on 2 more occassions and asked to see our cooler. They made us feel like drug smugglers. On top of that we were followed and harassed by the "ranger" on the back 9. They told us we were 30 minutes behind after the turn, even though we could see the group on the green at 10. That group eventually walked off at 15 and the ranger, who was still following us, told us we need to get it moving because we're holding up the entire course. Ridiculous. We'll never play here again and I wouldn't suggest...
