The Root Sports & Fitness Center — Local services in Addison Township

Great facility, very clean, buuuut… It’s absolutely terrible for indoor soccer spectating for numerous reasons: The seating up top is only useful if you’re not handicapped AND can get a seat next to the rail. The lower seating on the bleachers, the view is blocked by metal columns holding up the top part. The glass walls are so tall and thick, you can’t even hear the action. All you can hear is the four hundred whistles blowing from the basketball or volleyball games. The goals are so shallow, with a wall behind them, that many times the only way we know anyone actually scored is if the players jog back for another kickoff because the ball bounces back into the playing field so easily. The glass is so reflective that if you’re watching the action from the bleachers, on the other end of the field, all you can see are all of the kids/people standing outside of the door. Can’t see the players at all. I have numerous pictures illustrating this. Refs on their phones throughout the games. Doesn’t matter the score, stay off of your phones! And you have to pay to come in and watch your kids play, every game.

I'm not a fan. If you're not in the "good ole boy" network, then you're not welcome there. I attended the gym for four consecutive months. I witnessed the destruction and constant disrespect of the equipment. The owner friends were the worst about it, and the owners did nothing. The bathrooms were a constant mess. The cables are cracked and frayed. Weights left laying out, cable handles were never put away, and I had to pick the stuff up before working out. When I tried to do something about it, I was immediately called by the owner at 10 o'clock at night for "talking" to the people in the gym. The people destroying the equipment (their friends) are still going in there and ego lifting with the best of them. They do not give reduced rates to first responders and veterans. They are the only business of this sort for 50 miles, so they get away with it all. Terrible. Terrible, very biased. There is a personal trainer that works in there, do not use, do not recommend as he takes your money, shows up late, leaves the customer standing around, and then complains. He does NOT help the person make gains and...

I am the head high school basketball coach at Hannan High School. Several times the last few years we’ve not had access to our gym due to water damage and now painting. I’ve called Robby @ Root and he’s graciously given major discounts to rent a basketball court even at last minute and he even donated us 3 days this summer at no charge. The facility is beautiful, staff is amazing, and I can’t say enough about how amazing this place is and how amazing it is ran.
