My name is Phyllis Scalici and my family and I were privileged to meet Mother Angelica when she and her few Sisters first arrived in Alabama. My life and the lives of my family would forever be entwined. For more than thirty years the Chapel, the Nuns and this Monastery would be my refuge from the world. The Chapel was so filled with the Holy Spirit that you could feel His presence just sitting quietly and listening. The best part of my day was being called upon to serve in any capacity asked of me from driving one of the Sisters to an appointment or helping in the assembling of Mother Angelica’s many books. I have been witness to many little miracles at this Monastery but of course the most blessed gift was being in the presence of Mother herself and to have been touched by her hand and blessed by her smile. It was the hardest moment of my life when they moved from Birmingham to Hanceville as we had built our home only one mile away in order to be near the Monastery. There isn’t another place in My world that gives such peace to my soul. I encourage everyone to make time for themselves and plan one entire day alone to reinvigorate their spiritual life by simply sitting and listening in this holy place. Pray a little, read some inspirational words Mother Angelica gave us and listen with all your heart for the answers you will surely hear. I’m only one of the many who was given the wonderful blessing of knowing not only Mother Angelica but her Sisters and even her own Mother. Every day of my life is somehow touched because I knew Mother. I am humbled...

The EWTN Chapel and the Monastery were absolutely and incredibly beautiful, and the peace felt in both places was beyond reverent.
The best part was the emotion of peace felt when Father Joseph Mary Wolfe answered our request for a blessing. It was an honor seeing him in person.
We enjoyed every aspect of our visit and hope to visit again someday. The staff was friendly and very...
